A lot of talk here about Tuten and Henderson, and rightly so, but Judkins and Hampton really confirmed positive priors about them. I'd be very happy with either of them, though I suspect that Hampton might not make it to 29 and Judkins, while we might be there at 29, is almost certainly not there at 61.
But both of those dudes feel like potential future feature backs.
Yeah I've talked some about Hampton. Love the player. I'd take him at 29 if he falls that far but I doubt he does and I am guessing this team doesn't go RB in the first regardless.
Judkins is a good player. Better arguably at Ole Miss than he was at Ohio State. But brings power and enough speed.
Depends on what this team is shopping for. If its for a homerun type RB -- that wouldn't be Judkins. That would be a Henderson or a Tuten or a Sampson.
In the third round range IMO: Harvey and Giddens while not quite homerun hitters in the pros in all likelihood, they are close enough. Giddens when I watched him was more east-west, stop and go. But with how he ran, clearly he can take it to the house.
I still like Kaleb Johnson inspite of his pedestrian speed. He's in that Judkins mode of a RB, power with some breakaway ability.
Skattebo to me is a wildcard. I suspect the team either loves him or he's off their board. I can see either argument. I suspect that that they like him -- if Quinn wants players who are violent and can make plays in space as he's mentioned. This dude fits that. Imagine having to tackle Skattebo and Deebo in a game. Defenses should be worn down in the 4th quarter.
Then you got some of these backs which I find medium types. Not fast. Not powerful. But well rounded. Neal, Jordan James, Marks.
Pass catchers: L. Allen, B, Smith.
There are others too but those are the ones I've watched some.
I am guessing the earliest they go RB is late 2nd. And by then Hampton, Judkins, Kaleb, Treveyon are gone. And the decision is do you go for Sampson, Skattebo (depending on his pro day run) who are likely gone by the mid 3rd. I get both are often still there in mocks. But I am with Mcshay on the thought that too many teams need RBs and the run happens in the 2nd and early third. Tuten is a wild card. I can see him going in the 2nd but also can see him going later. But I can see a team obsessed with speed pouncing.
If we wait to the third and it goes down the way I project, I'd be happy with Giddens and Harvey and Tuten assuming that they are there. Wonder if Etienne creeps up into this category -- good combine showcasing plenty of speed.
I know i am supposed to love Jordan James because so many draft geeks love him albiet PFF does not. I have to watch him more. But watching him what goes through my mind is very SOLID. I just have a hard time getting excited with solid. I like Neal a little bit more than James but they are of that same brand. Ditto Woddy Marks who I notice doesn't get much love. To me he's in the same tier of these two. Really solid -- high floor with good hands but judging by mocks i am guessing he goes super late or even undrafted.
