open a command prompt and do: ipconfig /flushdns

once your ISP clears its cache you'll be fine.

alternatively open up your network adapter and set your DNS to googles: 8.8.8.8

All right, so Lifetouch is asking me to re-do their training modules for my division, using a program called Moodle. Anyone heard of it? Use it at all? I am stuck trying to link to multiple files on one page, and can't figure out how to move forward.

it is. but it's old news (not a dig at you). there was an easy fix that Google coded.

Going after IBM would be a waste of time. The client is more than capable of they wanted to, it falls in their area of expertise. The cost isn't worth the reward.

I installed a new program and it had a hijacked program that was also installed on my PC, and it's called SweetPacks Updater Service. I was able to successfully uninstall the hijacked program. Then I googled it and some guys on forums say it's just a browser or toolbar add-on, while others say it is much more malicious than that. You guys familiar with this one ? If I was able to uninstall it, am I safe now ? Or could my PC be infected ?

Yea I was about to do a scan, but one of my programs takes about 5 hours to scan, which is why I checked here first.
I forgot all about that "last good configuration" option, thanks a lot.

It is malware, but if you google sweetpacks updater service uninstall, there are a number of uninstall methods listed.

Yea I was able to successfully un-install, I was just curious if the thing was known to cause any lingering or residual problems even after un-installing it

we just found a bug where the new built in backup utility for windows server backup will report successful backups even though it's not correctly backing up exchange. my exchange database hasn't been backed up correctly since april, yet i have nightly success reports from the server and in the backup software.

not cool microsoft. not cool at all. we would have been ****ed if something happened to our server, and without being able to tell what went wrong I would have been blamed for it.

Run your anti malware and antivirus anyways.

And if you still think its screwed you might want to roll back to last known good configuration

So after uninstalling "Sweetpacks", I scanned Malwarebytes everyday for the next 5 days, and it found nothing.
Then on the 5th day, Malwarebytes discovered FOUR infections from Sweetpacks alone.
Is that weird or what ?
Did Malwarebytes fail to do it's job for the first 5 days, or did the Sweetpacks find a way to hide for 5 days, or was it most likely an update to the Malwarebytes software a few days later, that made it able to find the infection ?

could have been an update to malwarebytes or it could have been hiding.

A lot of software will show up as clean upon initial installation, but it is after they update that problems arise, and will start to show.

If you type in Sweetpacks in to a google search, you might be surprised to find what the results show.

Another question -

Will it damage or ruin a desktop PC if left in a hot car all day ?

I will be moving, and putting all my belongings in my car, and stopping at a friends house along the way for a few days, before getting to my destination.
My friend doesn't have much room in her place to store much of my "heat-sensitive" stuff, as I'll be sleeping on a couch, and not even in a bedroom. So, if I'm there for a few days, and it's in the Florida heat, is it important to bring the PC in the house, rather than leave it in the car during that time ?
