so…what are the priorities this off-season? (back here yet again!)

McKissic for the win

1) Secondary w/speed and…shhhhhh….ability!

2) A new DC. you suck Hazlet. you can't make an adjustment if your life depended upon it.

3) Inside LBs whose names you hear at least once or twice a game in a positive way!

4) A DE who can actually pass-rush and run-defense consistently.

5) bye bye..Polumbus…Chester…Montgomery. you're getting our QB killed.

6) Robert learns how to read from the pocket (those clips last night of his eyes were great - you could see him locking on)

7) A receiver with real speed. bye bye Aldrick. you suck.

8) Robert learns how to get the ball out quicker (part of the last bullet). he's getting killed.

9) bye bye Kyle (I know this won't happen). the offense may rank high in the stats. but I think you have called maybe one complete game this whole abortion of a season.

10) waste a roster spot on a kicker who can…like just about every other one in the NFL….kick the ball deep into the end zone.

Last night was atrocious. an embarrassment to Redskin fans everywhere. putrid defense. putrid coaching.

you know….this is the one time I support a name change. This team is a disgrace when it comes to the pride and success that team name was once associated with.

I don't know how anyone could honestly think we could replace 3 offensive linemen. Maybe I'm the one that doesn't get it, but over the last 10 years we've acquired 1, count it 1, quality lineman. How are we supposed to acquire 3 more in one offseason :\

I agree with the rest of your stuff. I hate being one of 'those people' but this team is just playing poorly.

I've spent majority of the season this thinking we were playing short of our potential. Maybe the real fact is the second half of last year we were playing above our potential.

I suspect #5 will be heavily scrutinized, so much so that the FO will address it heavily, which is good.

#10 won't happen. We finally have a kicker who can hit 40+ FGs with some regularity. Kai ain't going anywhere.

What to do with the D is interesting to me. For years when Vinny was here, we screamed about getting ends who could get pressure; well, we invested two first round draft picks in those positions and are still not getting enough pressure. We tried to beef up the secondary this off season, but can not yet call that a success, so I would guess some more attention will be paid there. I think they went into the season hoping the front 7 would get enough pressure to mask the deficiencies in the secondary - sometimes it's worked, other times not so much. I would guess we draft another corner, two LBers and call it a day. The cap penalty has killed our depth, absolutely killed it. When Keenan went down, I would guess that hurt us a lot more than we first realized.

Compared to Peyton Manning, whose head movements look non-human like when he's in the pocket.

How about fans trying to live for today, instead of wasting time talking about the future, like it's already happened. Won't change a goddamn thing, either.

I know the "We should just lose out", quitters, will be wearing their jerseys, and flying their banners now, as well.

Oh well, it's a free country. I guess come March, we can discuss possible moves in 2120.

The team last night was not a 'disgrace' - that's wildly overstating it. We couldn't stop Minnesota in the 2nd half and our offense stalled. But there were also a lot if positives. I thought Griffin, save a play here and there, played a helluva game.

This loss is a killer. But the Redskins were not a 'disgrace'.

God bless you for your level headedness and reason.

For comparison purposes I'm very close to completely trashing my office right now; not just my office but the whole ****ing floor.

Like holes in drywall, broken computers on floor kind of trash.

Probably just need some more coffee before I begin.

Amen. Thanks for stating what I felt was rather obvious. My main disappointment was the last 4 plays.... which I couldn't SEE because I was at work.

And I for one wore my burgundy and gold jersey to work last night and am still wearing it. Proudly, I might add.

I don't blame anyone for whatever their response to that loss might be. Maybe the most demoralizing loss of the past 3 or 4 years. And we almost had it happen to us the week before. It is hard to have any kind of positive perspective with this team. Sometimes feels like a curse that will never ever be lifted.

we need a minimum of 3 new offensive linemen and an entirely new defensive line.

also we need a punter

and a kicker, or a kickoff specialist.

and a kick returner

and 2 safeties

and at least 1 LB, preferably more to rotate in/out of the 3-4

and an organically grown super knee

opinions vary! I thought they were a disgrace. A 1-7 team led by a QB who likely won't be in the league 2 years - if not next season….marched up and down the field on this defense. this defense, again, sacrificed a lead. I was watching really bad stuff last night: CBs spinning around on coverage, more arm tackling, nickel backs allowing 10 yards of space, dumb penalties…samo…samo. this is not what a division champion does. it has regressed….badly.

folks can rationalize all they want: this is the 30-31st defense in the league. it has surrendered huge amounts of points all season long. how many times do we have to witness 3rd and 8, 3rd and 12 - become 1st and 10 anyway? this is a bad, bad, bad, bad defense. the offense may have sucked in the second half….but it had already scored enough to win the dang game. you can't win with a defense that shows up every once in a while. that whole defense needs to be blown up - including the coaching staff.

disgraceful. congrats Redskins - you lost to a team everyone else (but one) has beaten. you should be so proud! you're on the way! who the heck are you Redskin guys kidding? you're slow, can't cover, can't tackle…and…it is my suspicion….aren't all that bright (except for Fletch). Kerrigan is the only real keeper. Amerson is a keeper based on potential. Cofield on heart and moved to correct position. all the rest? meh.

and just to spread the glory around: Kyle…WTF? a fade route to the smallest receiver on both teams? are you kidding me? nit wit. what the heck do we even have a player like hankerson on the team for? he's built for the red zone. dumb. dumb. dumb. just all around dumb.

I didn't see much that I would call a disgrace.

Imho, the first and only thing that needs to be decided is if we want this coaching staff back. If so, then great. Extend Shanahan by this Tuesday, and let him draft his players once again.

If not, then we don't want him drafting players that may or may not fit into the system of the next HC.

Much like Denver did repeatedly, I'd pull him into the office and see how feels about firing many of his assistants. If he says no, then I'd politely say thanks, and strongly consider a new coaching search immediately.

He's not going to fire his own son--the biggest reason why we never want nepotism in the coach staff again. He won't fire Slowik. He may see the benefit of firing Haslett however, to shift blame to someone else.

The GM just needs to see if Mike is open to giving up control of coaching hires, and then go from there.

Hahaha. That's a good one.
Yeah, it's probably not going to go very well. But I'd at least give him the chance.

Or, if the GM believes that our current coordinators are the right guys--then we don't even need to have the meeting.

A whole new coaching staff. One that might actually place some importance on the OLine, which has needed attention fo rat least 15 years.

Seriously, how many times do we do this? I mean, great. We pull the plug on the Shannies. Who do you bring in? How many years do you give them? At some point, don't we have to find a guy and stick with him for 10-12 years? Or are we going to let Robert enjoy the same kind of career Jason Campbell did here, with a new OC every year?

I get the frustration. I really do. I'm right there with y'all. And far be it from me to criticize anyone else's plan to fix this team we ALL love. But coaches aren't like boxers. Changing them doesn't instantly make the **** stains go away.

Good post, J. I'm not for staying the course for staying the course's sake, but that run last year combined with Griff's injury rehab cuts Mike some slack, imo. I'm not sure I would extend him, but unless we lose out, I'm seeing cutting him lose either.

Continuity is great, as long as the coaches at various positions show promise.

Do you want another 5 years of Haslett? #2 in your concerns leads me to believe you don't.

So who is going to fire him? Shanny. If not, then you have to fire the HC. Unless you are okay with Haslett, or 3 WR coaches in 4 years, or Slowik, or our ST coach.....then you only have one option left.

If we lose out, I think the coaching staff goes. If we win 2-3 games more, I think some position coaches need to go, and Bruce, Mike and Danny need to have a serious talk about the direction of the team.
