I agree with you, Nicks is amazing. Watching he and Dez Bryant go back and forth last night has me feeling sick to my stomach thinking about these two young WRs that will be giving us fits for the next ten years.

I think Cowher is a good, solid coach. But like so many in the NFL, including Shanny, overrating them comes with the Super Bowl ring. He, and Shanny, are in the upper half of today's coaches.

I just hope, wherever Cowher goes, he doesn't steal our linebackers coach after having him just one season. He's the key, moving forward, to our 3-4 success.

Jerry is going to run into the same problem The Dan did when he found himself w/o a "name" coach willing to come here and be emasculated (whether true or not, the perception was there) and having to hire Zorn in a semi-panic. Except in Jones' case it's likely to be even worse.

Jerry is Dan to the nth power when it comes to hands-on involvement of the football side of things. Dan has spent 10 years trying to convince people he is NOT involved in football ops ... Jerry has spent them making damn sure everyone knows he IS.

Is Jerry Jones prepared to do as Snyder did and hire both a GM and head coach, or is Wade Phillips' successor going to be expected to have JJ as his GM?

I think here we're dealing with quite dissimilar personalities; Jones is an extrovert, a showman, deliberately in the public eye and hungry for the attention while Snyder is an introvert, very private, playing things close-to-the-vest and shunning attention but still wanting control like Jones but more of a behind-the-scenes string-puller, a "puppet master" if you will.

Jones personality, I think, will make it much more difficult for him to step aside and hand the reins over to a separate GM and HC-it would take him out of the limelight he craves-the new Dallas stadium, as an example, is as much a monument to Jones as it a sports venue-gaudy, huge and in-your-face like Jones himself.

Snyder, on the other hand, being inward-directed is not interested in his entertainment value but his personal emotional needs. Jones looks to be Al Davis' successor as far as the style of "notoriety" an NFL franchise owner can attain.

At least that's my personal take on your question.

In a word . . . No. He is not. There is a local feeling that Jones is still hurt by Jimmy Johnson's success here and the lack of success since Johnson left. He really wants to be viewed as not just a great owner but also a great football guy. I don't believe that will ever change. I think he will die wearing the title of Owner and General Manager of the Dallas Cowboys.

The next Head Coach of the Dallas Cowboys will more than likely be Jason Garrett. He has pretty much been named the successor to Phillips. To be honest, I consider this good news as I really think the Dallas offense has been held back as much by Garrett as it has Jerry's refusal to understand his line just isn't cutting it anymore.

- I would normally respond "no"...he will always remain viscerally involved with personnel management

- on the other hand he did bring in Parcells who moved a horrible team to a very competitive one

They have the talent now. what they don't have is the coaching/motivation/teamwork
