Rest In Peace Dwayne Haskins

It’s also odd that this guy saw a man out in the road and waving and didn’t at least shout out to see if he was okay. I get you have to be careful nowadays, but you can roll your window down and check on someone. I would hope someone would if it were me. Impossible to know what really went down.

You can't stop on those freeways to roll your window down, you have to completely pull onto the shoulder or you're getting rear ended real quick, that Miami traffic down there, its nuts.

Both I95 and 595 are 70mph race tracks, from reports he was near the interchange of the two posted below. Traffic is coming from all different ways and fast, again I just find the whole damn thing odd. It is my hope he wasn't intoxicated and also that this was accidental (we do have several people every year here who end it by walking into oncoming traffic).

It was 6:30 in the morning on a Saturday morning - so I’m not visualizing what you’re describing, not that it really matters. Walking on or near a highway in the dark is ill-advised to say the least.

Plus, by the time you realize what you just saw, at that speed, you've already passed it, and it's too late to respond.
The guy did the right thing by calling 911.
I wonder if there are video cameras by those roads ?
Probably the most information the police will glean, is from interrogating the last people to see and speak with him, such as teammates he was working out with.
They can give a good glimpse into his state of mind, his plans, etc

Look at all the on and off ramps along with the fact I95 is the lifeline for all goods on the east coast of Florida, there is no such thing as light traffic especially at 6:30am. The Casino is close, the bars, titty bars are close, it's a disaster waiting to happen to get out on the road at that hour. I understand I didn't quantify what that interchange is as the 595 E/W is also busy coming across the state right into I95. It's disorienting during the day, let alone at night.

I can unfortunately visualize that, however in this particular case, I am starting to see the suicide possibility as unlikely. And for a couple reasons.
The witness account of him raising or waving his hands, indicates to me, of his effort of wanting to be seen on the road, something I don't think someone does,
who is on the verge of suicide.
The other reason is, there apparently was at least a 6 minute span that he was making his way onto the roads. If suicide was the intention, I would imagine that
it wouldn't take up that much time.
Seems to be a tragic and unintentional accident.

There are so many unanswered questions here. I wouldn't get too caught up on the 6 minutes unless there are cameras with time stamps. Apparently the caller has 6:31 from his phone screenshot, but the accident happened “about” 6:37. We aren’t sure where that 6:37 came from though and it may be someone’s dashboard clock or a second call which may have happened a minute or two later, or police estimates. This witness only saw someone in the road and if it was truly 6 minutes, they would likely be over 7 miles away when the accident happened. Meaning they don’t know what happened other than someone (they admitted they didn’t know who it was, but we can assume Haskins), was on part of the road.

Since this was a major highway and near an interchange, there are likely cameras around. I have a feeling authorities know what happened. I don’t know the protocol for releasing those details other than what the article said about the case being closed before they release. But my belief is there are cameras on the highway that give more details. We may never know the reason for this though.

This story is just so bizarre.

Ooof. That's not good

The respect he's getting in Ohio is about as expected.

Kid had a bucket load of talent and the sky was the limit. He was never a bad guy to anyone, and gave back more than most.

Heard this morning that on the 911 call Haskins wife stated that he had run out of gas and that Dwayne had gone to get some (doesn’t sound like she was with him but that he had been in contact with her). Believe she called 911 when he stopped responding to her calls.

Shame that's the case, had he turned on the hazards and waited a Road Ranger eventually would've stopped and provided a gallon of gas. Why he wouldn't call roadside assistance from his insurance company is also baffling.

I’m waiting for the last shoe to drop. I will be shocked if he was not highly intoxicated at the time. I don’t know if those results will be shared but it’s the only thing that could make any sense at all of this tragedy.

Maybe. But you guys telling me you’ve never run out of gas and hiked to a gas station before? if I’d seen a station close by I’d probably do that vs. calling AAA or someone else for help.

Not on a busy highway in the dark I haven't. Local roads are one thing, highway total different story.

It wouldn’t deter me. I’m just saying - the fact he decided to walk doesn’t necessarily imply anything other than maybe a bad decision.
