Okay. We'll revisit this after the first 4 games. You can't accurately judge how this offense or defense will do based on the pre-season. I think we mostly agree on this - except we still want to judge how this offense or defense will do based on the pre-season
The running game was okay last season. Not good - but okay. I'm not sure I understand why we don't believe it will be better this year?

And I look at this group of RBs and am absolutley baffled that any team would consider going into the regular season with them. Every single one is a HUGE question mark. Jones is the only one I would think might possibly someday be a starter in this league and he's not particlarly inspiring, and hes hurt again.Well - you have to actually watch to see anything - whether it's meaningful or meaningless. I never intended to imply the preseason was meaningless. I've stated that judging an offense or defense in a game where the goal isn't even to win, but to practice situational football and evaluate individual talent, is silly. But you can certainly assess raw talent. I just don't see the logical argument that we should expect the running game to be worse this year?

As Goal said, Kirk had better continue to play out of his mind. We shouldnt need to expect that from him.

It is winning the lottery when it happens. Its happened twice here over the past 30 years.

I don't think he needs to play out of his mind for the team to be successful, he just needs to play like he did for the second half of the season last year which is a realistic expectation.
Also, I think the team has more confidence in Jones than many of you seem to. He showed some real potential last year, but made some serious rookie mistakes. Hopefully he'll be sharper this year with experience.
Lets hope so.You've got battered wife syndrome Henry. Scot McCloughan wasn't our GM for the past 30 years - that's a relevant fact.

I'm not as certain as I make myself out to be btwWho the hell knows? But there was equal certainty from many before last season that Kirk could never become a consistent QB or overcome his turnover tendencies. Those doubts were wrong.
My position is part Devils advocate and part just trying to counter what I see as concern over a part of the game that is less important with every passing year.

Gonna start calling you Billy Mumphrey.Eh. Me too.
I just try to temper some of the unbridled enthusiasm I see from time to time. I don't see a dark cloud over everything.![]()
