Glad everything worked out!

About a month ago, my mom had an incident (turned out to be confusion caused by an infection) but we thought it was a stroke. Got her to the hospital via ambulance but still spent ten hours in the ER waiting room. She's much better now and I am glad about her care, but something is broken about American health care.

I was stuck, the garage didn't have cell phone service so I couldn't even hang out in my car. which was much more comfortable than a waiting room. But mostly it was a lot of waiting around with the wife to make sure everything was OK.

Oh and the food sucks. Up the road at Mercy Hospital I had crab soup and a surprisingly decent crab cake for lunch.

The Pet Thread

I thought a thread concerning any and all things pets would be a fun idea. Basically pics of your own pets with advice on training, diet and so forth could be shared. For starters, does anyone have a good method on house training puppies? Below is the trainee.

Just turned off the AI features on my gmail account. It was really easy. If anyone wants to do the same and doesn't know how let me know and I'll list the steps.

Was it getting in the way? I haven't noticed any difference with my Gmail regarding AI.

It wasn't, but generative AI can be predatory so as a precaution I thought it best to remove it.

Go to your gmail.
In the upper right you will see a settings icon (looks like a gear)
Click settings and then the blue hyper link that says "See all settings"
Scroll down and unclick the "Turn off smart features in Gmail, Chat, and Meet " box

It will reset your gmail and you are good to go.

Is everyone using the WAZE app? If not, you should be.

I was introduced to it 6 months ago and it is my go to app when driving. Not only does it do maps and directions, but it also warns you of police sitting roadside with their radar guns out.

The updates like where the police are, are made by the user community. In other words, you drive past a cop sitting on the roadside, you then update the app so that everyone knows where that cop is.

If you like driving fast without getting a ticket, WAZE is the app for you.

My friend (the mobile locksmith) told me about it...it's absolutely critical for him.

However, I don't think updating an app while driving is a good idea.

We have a "no hands" cell phone law here, but no one abides...except me???

We have that same no hands on phone rule when driving, so I don't make any updates when it's only me. Most times though, the wifey is there to do that. Even if you can't make an update, you still are alerted to the cops.

It's been my go-to navigation for years now, mostly because it picks up the police. But that info is usually old and most of the time the officer is gone, but that's better than the other way around. I rarely give updates, and never have bothered to learn as I drive how I note if I come across radar. You really need 2 people for that. But now and then if the road is clear I'll hit the "still there" or "no longer there" or however it's worded.
 
I travel at 186,212 m/ps. No need to worry about cops at the speed of light!

It's a fiber optic thing 😉
