I did...to the tune of about $900. I shifted all my travel about 2 weeks which was another $2,000 in airfare. Now I'm dealing with hotel reservations

For some reason it was stuck in my head that my passport expired October 2026. I'm a fucking idiot what can I say?

Dominican Republic does not require a Visa and neither does Mexico. They won't let you travel via air from the States without a passport. Period.

I should tell you about the time when I went from Colombia to Mexico with my girl at the time and how hard they were with us when we entered. They took all of our clothing and shoes and everything from our bags they had dogs run through everything and scanned everything item per item. She had a shit ton of shoes, high heels with big wooden heels. They thought we were running drugs.

I've also been stopped by the Colombian Army with M16s and M60s in my face while traveling via car, thinking we were running drugs, and my lady at the time talked to them smoothly and we bought them some beers and they let us go. I was also stopped by Colombian police while traveling in a car and they took everything out of the car and had the dogs sniff everything. The Police were hardcore.

Mine got bit by a friend's dog last week...there's a puncture wound on my left cheek, and my arm is a whole lot worse. Neither of us could figure it out, he's a great dog and loves me (I bring toys), but he's getting big and went to jump on me and I put my arm up and he got it...bad. Then, I turned and he got me in the butt. He had everything as far as first aid, so we got my arm cleaned up and bandaged. Good thing no one (other than a doctor) is ever gonna see my ass again.

Your friend got lucky it was a friend and not someone who would report the bite. I had a mixed breed rescue that bit the roofer, my fault I thought he had exited the yard. What a hassle, his girlfriend told him to go the hospital and not to believe me that she had her shots. I got a call from Animal Services. I had to quarantine her. My insurance company said they won't drop me but if she bites again I am not covered.

So I tried to re-home her, then actually considered (briefly) putting her down. I was not going to lose my house over a dog. Then someone on another board turned me on to insurance for dogs with a bite history, it was surprisingly affordable. I never took her out without a muzzle, it took a few to find one she didn't rip off before we left the driveway. So I was able to keep Molly for a few more years.

My buddy lives out in an area of Howard County considered to be Woodbine. He had a rescue pit bull. It was a good dog, a well behaved dog. But one day it got under the fence of his neighbor and leaped up and latched itself onto the neck of one of their cows. And it wouldn't let go. They tried beating it with sticks and two by fours and what not, and it took a while to get him off. It was a big commotion, lots of drama. My friend apologized profusely, and the cattle farmer took it well because "these things happen," he said. But they had to put the cow down. And my friend had to buy it. So he did end up with a lot of beef. But then he had another problem. He had two little girls at the time. Ages maybe around age 6 and age 9. Something like that. And my friend was afraid of the pit bull's natural instincts. Because now, for the first time, he's had a taste of blood. So he decided to put the dog down. Tough decision, but he felt he didn't have a choice. And so he did. The poor dog was only following its instincts. You know? And he was put down. Very sad. Pete loved that dog. And the dog loved Pete.

So then, later, he told me, he had a dream. He dreamed he was seeing through the eyes of his dog. And he floated down and landed on a grassy field with the sun shining. And he then started running across the field. And he was happy.

He tells me he believes his dog communicated to him, through the dream, that he was in heaven, and he was happy. And it was okay.

I had a classmate who had to do that to his beloved Boxer after it snapped at one of his grandkids. I was heartbroken to read that.

By the way we live in Woodbine. Our property backs up to the Howard County line. Technically it's Mount Airy but only because we are just west of Route 94 but we live in Woodbine.
