Taking a break from most social media...

...just over the urge to battle, but understanding it's futile.

I just wish half the people so entrenched on either side would understand this is what they want...the infighting.

Haven't tried that. Am I the only one that likes their jerky leather tough and dry. I mean, I want to have to rip that shizz with my teeth and have it suck up every bit of saliva in my mouth! I know. I'm weird. I find most commercial jerky gross because it's sort of this softish sweet stuff that to me is not really jerky. It's supposed to be dry - it's jerky! #jerkyrantover

I want to get a dehydrator and do it myself.

We used to do a river float trip from Paw Paw, WV to Hancock, MD. There was a stop we'd make at Bill's Place in Little Orleans for supplies halfway through. That is where you'll find the BEST beef jerky I have ever had.

A close second...the Farmers Market at Soulard in St. Louis.

I bought mortars and tubes at Phantom Fireworks. My oldest son arrives in town on Thursday and my brother with his family arrives on Friday. It is going to be one big ass party. it will be the first time my son meets his cousins, and the first time all the boys of the family are under the same roof at the same time.

I tested some of the mortars last night from the front yard in the driveway so the neighbors could see it as well. First one went off perfectly...when I went to light the second I was going to be done but I noticed people were standing on the street looking down so I set off 5 of them. People loved it.

This one made me laugh

My mother has cancer. not much more to say, but that.

Sorry to hear this brother ... good thoughts you and your family’s way ❤️

Dropped mom off for her first chemo treatment this morning. I held her hand part of the way into the hospital. I haven't held my mom's hand since I was a child. It was nice.

Sorry you have to go through it (and of course her!). Good thoughts your way.

received one of those blanket text messages of a missing man in my area around 6PM last night. he is 75, has dementia, and wandered away from his home. Thought nothing of it and went about my business.

around 9PM received another one and saw that they were forming a search party at the church on the corner about a mile away. My neighbor and I jumped on his quad and went down there to see if we could help. we live in very rural area so it goes from field, to wetland, to woods really quick.

we spent well over an hour riding through the woods with him driving and me on the back with a spotlight looking for him before we were told to go home. There were 6 quads, 4 gators, 2 dogs, a drone and a chopper along with the cop cars. plus, they closed off the road going to his home so you couldn't really get to there on foot.

they found him around 11PM and the detective we were working with called me to tell me. Thank God! he had wandered off and got stuck in the dense woods behind his residence.

And just like that, the last year of fighting to put my life back together will be for nothing.

I was furloughed in mid March due to Covid. I immediately applied for unemployment and was initially denied twice although I qualified.

I appealed, won, and with the additional $600 from the cares act, I was able to fight off the bill collectors and get back on track while I waited for my employer to open again.

It isn't as easy as just going to get a different job. I'm a felon now, so my spectacular work history is of little use. I have no vehicle, I had to use the money I had saved for that to survive while waiting on unemployment, and my job informed me we'll be opening back up the second week of August. All seemed fine.

Two weeks ago, I didn't receive my deposit. The 800 number will not put you on hold, they just say it's busy and disconnect you. They do not reply to emails in a timely fashion either. I could find no reason for the payment delay.

While I stressed, I believed it would be resolved. Last week passed, again no deposit. I've been in full freak out mode, and still could not find answers. I'm still eligible, I was able to confirm that. Then today came, and again no payment. So I'm now over $2200 short on unemployment.

I finally got an explanation today. The woman said there was an error that flagged my account, and only a deputy manager can fix it so I get my money. The problem? The wait due to backups is 6-8 weeks.

I have 3 meals left, savings wiped out for the second time in 4 months through something I had no hand in, rent is due, electric is due, phone bill is due. All in the next 5 days. I have $4 in my account and $48 cash. I don't think I'm gonna get there.

I've fought through more than I'd ever wish on my worst enemy in the past few years. Since my release last year, I made monumental progress. All to end up in honestly a worse situation as far as finances and stability as I was a year ago. I just never expected to feel this low again after how far I made it.

Today would've been my 20 year anniversary, instead my divorce was finalized last week. This morning she was confirmed to have covid, and because she believed it was all a hoax, both of our kids have been exposed since they live with her. I don't have the strength to carry all of this, I'm not as strong as I used to be.

I just don't know what to do other than stretch the food out and wait for the lights to go out and the phone to cut off.

How do you keep fighting when there's no fight left in you?

Waiting on a miracle.

That sucks brother. I'm sure there are many folks who are also in a bind with everything going on right now. I wish I were in a position to bail you out - if I could, I would. I think most people are stretched to the limit right now with layoffs, furloughs, reduced business hours, etc... If you want to put your Paypal or other donation site info in your post, maybe folks can help you out in some small way.

As far as what you can handle - you know you can get through this. I think all of us, at one time or another, have experienced financial stress and it definitely is one of the more stressful things, and I know you have other things going on in addition to that. Hang in there, don't be afraid to ask family for help, and try and stay positive. Things usually have a way of working out if you just persevere and hang in there.

Thinking good thoughts for you and your family!

Yeah, it's been quite a year to say the least. I'm just over it all and struggling to shake this overwhelming feeling of defeat. I don't want to start over, I just had to a year ago and the thought of it's killing me.

I did something I've never had to or wanted to do - I cashed in my favors. Helping people over the years has its advantages I guess. My family is unable to help because they're stretched thin, but I had a lot of friends help with what they could.

I started off needing $1,183 but after tapping every resource possible, including plasma donation, I am just $292 shy. It might as well be a million dollars at this point.

PayPal won't let me make a donation button with my phone unless I register as a business, but I do have a paypal if anyone is able to help.

I also have cashapp and venmo. My venmo is @StillRedskins and my cashapp is $StillRedskins. I understand if I get nothing, life is tough for millions of people right now, but every penny helps and hope is all I've got left.

N.J. Right venmo?
