Random Thoughts

Well, pooty poot! I'm under quarantine for two weeks (until Oct. 7) after being in close proximity to someone with Corona-19 at the doctor's office.

I have no symptoms and I'm fine, but now stuck at home for the next two weeks. Never thought it would affect me, but here we are. Bah!

Okay $ is no object, & availability is granted in this scenario. What arcade game would you get delivered to your house?

I’d go with Galaga without hesitation

Yeah - Galaga would be mine as well... lol

Joust a close 2nd.

NBA Jam or Ninja Turtles probably.

Check out Arcade 1 up... they make in home cabinets for not terrible pricing.

I would love to see Contra or blades of steel too

Fun fact...watching a documentary on Al Capone and his enforcer was a guy named Tony Accardo. Turns out he’s Joey & Nick Bosa’s great grandfather.

I'm quite fascinated with mob history. My dad worked for one of the earliest Organized Crime Strike Forces in Baltimore. It got intense to the point where my Mom got a call telling her they were cutting my Dad's fingers off one by one and we had a guy cruise past our house making threats. But the best part was, he'd come home after raids on illegal gambling joints with literally a bag full of ball bearings. We had fun playing with those things.

That is way cool.

my dad worked for George Hyman/Clark construction in the IUOE Local 77 for well over 40 years. He was extremely well known as one of the best tower crane operators in the country. He worked all over DC and I have pictures of him in his crane off the Capitol bldg. was just always so cool.

well, I am about 16 and we just had our first physical fight. All boys in my family test their father and lose. its like some stupid right of passage. anywho, I am sitting out front smoking and he comes up and sits down next to me. we hadn't spoken for days, but he says "see that car over there?" and points to a sedan with a man sitting in it. "watch this" and he gets in his truck and drives off. Car follows him, he circles around and parks, and the car goes back to where it was. He tells me he is working on something big but cant tell me.

He was being investigated by the Federal Govt because he ended up building the hangar that AF1 is now in. Was no big deal to him, but to me it was like looking at a superhero.

My son is currently in culinary school and sent me what he made today. Imma be a fatass once he graduates.

I have had that happen once in a blue moon. I don't know why though, think it's more about how the image was saved or if it was previously edited.

Gotcha. Knowing my son he probably had the phone upside down to begin with

Okay got a question for you guys who are employers. Brushing up my resume at the moment and about to start firing it off to some places. If I happen to get a video interview, would a collared shirt with tie be appropriate via zoom?

100% yes. If you are interviewing at a place make sure your hair is combed, your shaven (or cleaned up if you have facial hair), and you are dressed to impress.

Make sure you have questions for your possible employer "What are you looking for someone to do once they join?" "What kind of career path do you offer?" "Do you offer XYZ program?" things like that. shows that you have genuine interest in them but it has to be a right fit for you just as much as it is for them.

also have a copy of your resume and something to write with in front of you. take notes. even if its just something silly. shows you care.

good luck!!

I know. It aint the military anymore!! LOL

Use your military experience when speaking, too. they eat that shit up. "Back in the military, we xyz" and have use words like motivated, dedicated, etc. they LOOOOOOOOOVE knowing that they could hire a vet and someone who is a hard charging ass kicker.

I’ve seen it not be helpful too. People without experience tend to think military guys are overly aggressive, not able to work with others, not open to other viewpoints, or that you’ll struggle with collaboration. May depend on what kind of a job you’re interviewing for. I’d just keep it medium and make it clear you are a well-rounded individual who likes working with all kinds of people.

The job is at a small town clinic checking patients in. It’s a clerk job that does scheduling, insurance billing, patient appointments, etc

My resume was all over the multi national work forces I’ve worked with & tying it in to getting along with anyone vibe.

I think both of these can be true. Employers eat up structure and understanding, but looking at Mike, who likely has had a very positive response to a naval background vs Boone who likely see's another side of being USMC... I have held enough interviews in an automotive parts field to understand a positive blend of either. I have seen people take to military people, and other say things along the lines of USMC are a bunch of arrogant and egotistical knuckledraggers who think they're better than everyone. Each opinion is different and the military can be views as either a positive or a negative....

Applied to 3 jobs today with an updated resume & cover letter based on your guys suggestions. Fingers crossed now
