Can somebody please explain to me how Jay effong Gruden, master of the befuddled look and dumbass who called the same running play for zero yards for 2.25 years (after McVay left before he was fired) has turned into the media darling subject matter expert knows things about football when he never managed to win more than 9 games in a season?

What in the blue hell. He’s on with Keim. He’s on with Standig. He’s on with Sheehan. His dumb incompetent ass is on literally everywhere.

I wish I could fail spectacularly at my job, get fired, and then hired to talk about how to do the job I sucked at.

I don’t understand why our media decided to try and give him a reputation rehabilitation. They won’t do it for Ron. And they were basically the same level of bad for this franchise. Ron actually had more to deal with and at least commanded the respect of his players.

Yeah, there was a story there was some love triangle or something which led to Alex Smith ending up in a Military bomb recovery ward in Texas.

I don’t have any idea if that is true. What I know is he was a terrible coach. And they keep putting his stupid ass somewhere.

EDIT to add, he’s basically replaced Cooley as the “local film guy” becuase Cooley moved to Wisconsin and lost interest, or was booted because of something illicit, whatever. (I mean, he did get multiple cheerleaders thrown off the squad because he dated a boatload of them before marrying one, then got a divorce, then married somebody else. And I have no idea what’s happened to him since.)

But Cooley was MILES more credible than Jay dumbass Gruden.

Most of those and Parsons. Prescott isn't listed. Their Guard Smith is.

Along with about 1/2 of the Eagles roster. Even Dean and Mitchell are on the list. But no McLaurin? Baun is 23. hurts, Johnson, Brown are all top 20 but Barkley is 22.

But the order is all dumb. Jalen Carter is in the 70s for instance.

Think the point i was trying to make was that just cause ron worked for dan and said nice things about him in the media, doesnt mean ron's a pos too. Forget what i was replying to but something about that

A. you realize who his owner and GM were right? the fact that he won more than one game is a miracle. NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE, that worked for Snyder can be fairly judged.

2. he is more than a competent offensive mind. You can't take that away from him.

3rd - his last name and big brother.

E - he's is to many people, likable and personable, and at times pretty funny.

Jay is a great guest with Sheehan. He's not afraid to dish stories and give his side of the story. Jay actually is a pretty decent talent evaluator. Bruce rarely ever listened to him.

I'm fine with folks who don't feel like he was a great coach. But any hatred is misguided.... he had to deal with Dan and Bruce.... I don't know if there is a coach out there that would succeed with those two morons pulling the strings.

This is correct. But also, there is a huge difference between being a knowledgeable football guy and a great coach. There are a lot of great coordinators who know football and diagnose Xs and Os better than many head coaches in the league. But when given their shot as a head coach, they don’t succeed. It takes a different skill set to be a head coach vs a coordinator. Jay knows his Xs and Os, he just didn’t have all the skills to be a head coach. And we may never see him get another chance, so it will always be up for debate if he could have succeeded in a better organization that would allow his coaching style to succeed.
