Well, you may have hit on one of the reasons Bill doesn't have a head coaching position anymore, and DQ is coaching in the NFCCG.

You need to connect to today's players in a different way, I think - there is a generational difference that has occurred. It doesn't mean disrespect; when problems occur, you are still the boss - that has to be there. However, being a 24/7 disciplinarian, I don't think it lends itself to today's best players. I think the best bet you have is to find a balance, which DQ has managed I guess.
 
Just out of curiosity, how is Zach Ertz not even considered for Comeback Player? Obviously I am missing something.

Its not just being buddy buddy's - its respect. And ultimately being willing to run through a wall for Quinn.

Injuries wrecked his 2023 - and making to the NFCCG - if post season is a factor at all. Or, The Butterfly Jayden Daniels Effect.

I am curious how Sinnot's development has progressed. I am sure we will never get a tell all report card for his 2024.

Mind you TEs are slow to develop and expectations must be made accordingly. Spending time in the OL room and WR room its a lot to digest and be expected to block DEs and beat LBs... heck Brock Bowers @ 13 overall was only the 17th ranked TE in preseason rankings.

Noncontroversial take, Sinnott may suffer from the usual slow development curve of tight ends, but I think the bigger factor is Zach Ertz reemergence. Ertz has become one of Daniels' favorite targets. Are you going to take snaps away from him to give to Sinnott?

I think Sinnott has just not been given many high priority receiver snaps. Perhaps, it is an interesting question as to why Sinnott hasn't been able to overtake Bates as the blocking TE or the second TE, but as a weapon... you just aren't taking Ertz off the field.
 
I don’t think that anyone believes that Sinnott is a better blocking option than Bates is.
 
*Some* tight ends are slow to develop.

Sam LaPorta is just one recent example of a TE who was a difference maker right out of the gate.
 
I've been trying to find a bar near me to watch the game possibly with some like minded fans but I've pretty much struck out.
Not a lot of redskins fans around me unfortunately.

Thanks for chiming in. The real battle for playing time is indeed as you mentioned, at TE2 or more accurately, the coveted Blocking TE1 (BTE1) role. It should surprise no one that Bates is a better blocker than a rookie hybrid TE ofc. If Bates wasn't a stud blocker he likely wouldn't be in the league. Sinnot is on Don Simmer and its very likely the best thing for his development. He and Luke should be best buds by now. So many young TEs struggle (heck fantasy owners in 2022 2023 know its was almost impossible league wide to even find A productive consistent TE) but clearly no one should be expecting him to get reps from THE comeback player of the year. It seems like it takes a little while to gain trust and targets from Daniels and Sinner isn't a fav yet if he were to get reps.

Dyami is the obvious latest one to gain his trust.

Agreed. I think that both Sinnott and McCaffrey are suffering from this... although I have split feelings about Luke.

One: I think he has proven himself on special teams. His kickoffs have been pretty good. It's also good that we don't need to play Ekeler there.
Two: I did hope that when Noah Brown went down that Luke would find a way to step up, but it turned out that OZ and Dyami were the ones to do so. I really don't know how much that means given how inexperienced McCaffrey is at the wide receiver position, but it could be troubling (on the other hand, like Ertz, Dyami and OZ are playing way above expectations.)
 
On that note, I kinda hoped Noah Brown would have returned from IR by now. I hope he's recovering well. I never quite understood what his injury was. Some kind of internal thing?
 
Luke is different from Sinnott in that he is inexperienced at his primary position. He is still learning how to be a WR, forget about being an NFL WR. It will take time to know what we really have in him.
 
McCaffery was getting a lot more snaps earlier in the season, now he is not and that is concerning to me. Same to a lesser extent with Sinnot. While I agree it's obvious that a guy like Bates will be a better blocker I don't understand why we saw virtually none of Sinnot after say October.

That's actually interesting. At some point, the mindset probably did change from developing to winning. The second recalibration of the season. It might explain a lot even for a team that has seemed so risk friendly.
 
Snap counts tell the tale. Sinnot got a big jump after Noah went down. He may have missed assignments or had some drops in week 15. Anyone interested - that game may be one to put him under a microscope. Especially coming off a bye to prep him... or that was the week Quinn said we have a chance to win this thing. Bench him. Crowder coming back stole Luke's IMO.
