That IS funny, I will be laughing about that one for a while. However: I will give them some actual credit here.

The only way you learn is by admitting mistakes, and sometimes it is good to own them publicly too. Here, it can help players and agents see that your career doesn't simply tank by coming to the Commanders. You just get misplaced, collect a fat paycheck, and move on. Any takers?

If only there was video on how he played, they may have known before he got to DC. This just continues the tradition of agents fleecing whoever is in charge in DC. This has been multiple GMs and includes the pre Snyder era. Agents know you come here to get paid and not play.

My guess is Dan has given up on trying to figure out how to produce a winner here and is simply sitting on his yacht and his isolated mansion by the Potomac collecting the monies to refill his coffers from buying out his partners.

This to me is a guy that has an old broken down apartment building in a gentrified part of town where real estate values continue to climb. He's done with trying to develop it in any meaningful way (no more BIG money moves) but is really just watching it go up in value until it gets to a price where he can cash out.

But since these teams are going up $500M every 5 years why sell it if you don't have to?

Snyder is probably looking for folks to buy a minority share of the team. He bought out the other minority owners last year.

He's hoping he can find a rich woman to buy part of the team, to show how "progressive" he is. It's an attempt to improve his public image in a desperate attempt to get a new stadium built.

Roger Goodell and the owners will tolerate Snyder being an asshole who assaults women and running a toxic, hostile work environment. However, what they WON'T tolerate is Snyder not being able to finance a new stadium to generate more revenue. At the end of the day, that is all the NFL cares about.

There's no way this is about him seeking a minority owner. There would be no reason to 'announce' it in public. He'd set it up and the league would put out a memo. The NFL has no motivation to facilitate a bailout of Dan Snyder in the current environment. They are done with him. Period. And Heinicke is a decent backup.

This is far more serious than simply owners wanting him out.

Anytime the US Attorney's office starts looking into a business and its operations it's not a good omen for management.

The Feds don't act on investigations/prosecutions unless there is something they feel is potentially actionable and you don't see the frivolous suits we sometimes see brought by state and local authorities who may be in part trying to make a partisan political statement.

The other factor is Federal sentencing guidelines are harsher and parole is not a factor in many cases brought.

The Feds are able to leverage this against defendants so that they can force a plea before 80% of these cases go to trial.

If Snyder is found guilty of criminal fraud, tax evasion, etc. he may be facing jail time.

This calculus goes way beyond merely selling the team and going to live on his yacht because the owners scared him with a potential vote to remove him.

Jerry Richardson and Donald Sterling never faced these kinds of allegations before being forced out.

Yeah, I'm not lumping the E.D. of VA criminal investigation in with all the others--on its face it's a whole different animal. Those guys generally don't play.

That Time One of the Great Teams in NFL History Introduced Itself

Some random thoughts/observations:

- In the NFL dictionary under “Complementary Football” there’s a link to this game film.

- Darrell Green could fucking play.

- Rypien was a big lumbering goofball but oh was he dialed in circa 1991.

- Brian Mitchell oughta own a gold jacket.

- A textbook example of survival instinct (sideline dude, Byner run, 6:10).

- Remember when players only danced/mugged when they did something worthy of it?

- It would have been 52-0 if Gibbs wasn’t such a mensch and downed it at the 2 at the end.

I remember the game the Redskins beat the Cardinals 42-0 and Joe Bugel who was coaching the Cardinals accused Gibbs of running up the score.

The truth was that the score could have been 62-0 if Gibbs really wanted to play offensive football in the fourth quarter!
