Random Commanders Thoughts

I just heard a report that Brig Owens has passed away

Damn.

I sold him some Levi’s at the Gap in Iverson Mall when I was a kid. I was so excited that I forgot to give him his credit card back. I ended up driving to his house to return it.

Bummer. He came to my Boy Scout troop meeting when I was a kid and I used to have an autographed picture of him. Nice man. And of course, a great Redskin.

RIP.

Owens was a very smart player and one of the best safeties in club history.

He was a lawyer and business owner, playing during an era when retiring players had to prepare for a second working career.

I was kind of upset at Payne hoping he’d take the first bus out of town, but now I’m kind of digging him. I still don’t know what his future holds, but I like his fighting spirit on this occasion. He’s slapping Griffin around and not like a brother either.

I always think of dumb and dumber

"Look at the butt on that thing"

"Yeah, he must work out"

Daron posted it?

If so, between this and him shutting RGMe up, he's lining himself up to try and get a new contract.

No that's not Daron's official twitter. His handle is @94yne. That's probably just a fan

With Terry's extension done, do they now move to Payne?
They didn't extend his rookie, but I'm not sure how it will play out for a second contract. My hope is if he plays well this season and we win a lot they sign him again.

I don't think Payne is in line for an extension. He could change minds if he absolutely wows people. I think Sweat would actually be up first.

Reports are that the team has rebuffed a number of trade inquiries about Payne so he might be more wanted here than we thought.

I don’t get why we’d retain him for such a short time instead of getting capital for him while he’d fetch a good price? Makes zero sense to me. But no one has ever accused us of being the Patriots have they?

Fair concern, Boone. Considering that recent contract moves by the front office have been better (extending Allen and McLauren, resigning McKissic), I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt at the moment and assuming there is some sort of plan in place for Payne. I hope I'm correct.
