Some are talking about Todd Bowles potentially being cut loose from the Jets, supposed to be pretty good on the defensive side and not so much as HC.

Ask yourself this question. Is Jay Gruden the kind of leader and coach that is able to produce a Super Bowl winner or multiple Super Bowl appearances?
One thing is certain. Joe Barry is not that kind of coach and leader. You can see it on the sidelines.
Would it be surprising if Scot is given the chance to name his own coaching staff this offseason? My guess is that he likes Cousin Kirk and many other players. I just get the sense that he is not sold on Jay.
If the red zone issues continue, would it be surprising to see Scot get the go ahead in January and get rid of Jay, Sean, and Joe? Others? It wouldn't surprise me.

WASHINGTON — This is hardly new information, but just for the sake of reaffirmation: Sean McVay is going to be the belle of the ball in the 2017 NFL offseason.

OK, so we're all to some degree not sold on Barry as DC.
So if Snyder opens his chequebook... who do we want?
Would you try to entice back George Edwards from Minnesota?
Or Sean McDermott from Carolina?
Anyone else?
Gruden isnt going anywhere. Barring a collapse of epic proportions down the stretch Gruden is back and will probably be signed to an extension. I know getting swept by Dallas sucks but the way we are playing and with the schedule ahead if we are looking at about 10 wins and another playoff berth. Cousins is fine. Hes better than fine. Hes great. He will get paid here. Hopkins is fine. Hes not going anywhere.
Red zone TDs are an issue but we are still 9th in scoring at the moment. Scoring is not a problem so awful that major shifts in the operation of the frachise must be made. That can and should be fixed on the fly.
Hopkins has had some down moments, but lets not forget how crucial he was in the Minnesota game. Four straight FGs in the second half, including a 50 yarder. He misses any one of those the game is very different at the end. I can forgive him the the 43 yarder against Dallas. We lose even if he makes that.
This team is in very very good shape right now. We are a defensive lineman or two away from being one of the top teams in the league. At the moment we are in the 'pretty good' category for the second year in a row. Are we really already quibbling over details?
Enjoy the ride, guys. They dont come around these parts very often.

I know it may sound crazy, but I saw a piece with Marvin Lewis being on the hot seat. Ya have the Gruden Lewis connection, but I don't remember how the Lewis Snyder relationship was. He was a dam good DC.
And the calls for Gruden's head - I have to ask what you guys want in a coaches 2nd and 3rd season? And are you blind to what the continuous revolving door at head coach has earned us over the past 20 years? At some point the madness has to stop.
I brought up the idea earlier, and someone pointed out the potential awkwardness for Lewis to accept a complete role reversal with Jay.
