In my mind we keep and pay Reed and Cousins and let the others go.

We could be preparing to make a move a WR.

If we draft a WR with one of our first two picks, it is conceivable that one of the veterans gets released.

Recall the Redskins brought Anquan Boldin in for a visit and as a physical possession receiver he does a lot of what Garcon does.

At 35 Boldin was productive last season despite not having a stable qb situation in SF.

I could see a situation where we sub Chancellor's salary for Garcon's, draft a WR to be the long-term answer, and sign Boldin to get us through 2016.

Totally agree with this and wouldn't be surprised if that's what happens. I could see us taking a WR in Round 2 and then moving on from Garcon.
 
I'd sign Garcon to an extension, lowering his cap number this year, and get a discount on the extension, if possible.

At the very least, I'd keep both he, and Jackson, for this coming season. Rookie WR's are typically less than impressive.

We already have to build a running game. No sense having to redo the passing game at the same time.
 
I think it depends on how Grant does this year regarding garçon if grant steps up they can let garçon walk and hopefully collect a compensatory draft pick
 
Two Grant's wouldn't equal 1 Garcon.

We cannot afford to screw around with the receiving core. Kirk needs the guys he knows.

Start grooming another one? Absolutely.

We need Garcon, Jackson, and Crowder this year, or we'll be back in the NFC East cellar, again. With another broken QB.
 
I think that's overstating it Ax but I get your point. I expect Crowder to take off this year. Jackson will be more expendable when he does. I agree with 'if it ain't broke...' At least for this year. But we will have to find long-term answers at WR eventually. If a top talent drops to us it wouldn't shock me if that starts sooner rather than later.

Just an opinion, but I think there's a cap on how successful that Crowder can be in this league, due to his physical limitations.
He's 2 inches shorter than both Santana and DeSean. And he's not fast enough to make up for the height difference.
It's hard to imagine a guy that small, going higher than a slot, or #3 on the chart.
Although, of course, he will no doubt, end up becoming very good at that position.

Overstated for emphasis. Which you clearly understand. We definitely need to find the receivers of tomorrow. I don't think we need to jettison Garcon, or Jackson, this year to do it. Kirk is familiar with them, and they know the offense. Grant may prove more valuable this year. But I be damned if I want to find out he ain't AFTER moving on from Garcon. Not to mention Garcon is our best blocking WR. Which we'll need if we're going to improve our putrid running attack. Jackson is still a game changer. I'd love to get both guys to restructure to a more cap friendly number. But, even if they don't, I believe they are essential for Kirk's success, this year.

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of bumping into a guy you'd think had no business being an NFL wide receiver. Toughest little sonofabitch what ever wore the Burgundy and Gold. Not saying Crowder will become the next Gary Clark. But try telling me with a straight face that little guys have to be speed demons to succeed in the NFL.

I wonder how much that height is fudged on some of these guys, though. I ran into Santana in Target a few years ago and he's about 5'7"... maybe 5'8" tops.

Holy crap! I just realized the first round of the draft is tomorrow night. Hmm!

Draft a big ugly! Preferable Kelly, a Center, but make whomever it is big and ugly!

There's just not enough examples to support it.
Successful dwarf receivers are very much the exception to the rule, and an extreme rarity.
You actually had to go back a few decades to come up with the Gary Clark example. And that should say something.

You clearly tried to say little guys have a cap. I simply proved, as did others, that there are always exceptions.

You were wrong. It's not fatal.
 
Oh, and by the way, both Clark, and Crowder, are listed as 5'9".

Wrong again.

Move away from the shovel.
