Since Prince died, I been watching and re-playing that Dave Chappelle skit about him along with Charlie Murphy.
What does this have to do with the Redskins ?
I swear Charlie Murphy looks like a former Redskin, I just can't figure which one.
Maybe it's Doug Williams ?

Yes, that is where Scot learned the nuances of being a GM. Part of what made him one of the best today.
 
What the Redskins did NOT do is sign a 32 year old corner with a recent injury history to a deal that was almost fully guaranteed.

That's what the circa 2000 Redskins did with Deion Sanders.

Big difference.

I was going to post this yesterday, but didn't want to get people too excited one way or the other.

There's a fan on twitter...nothing more, who was right on the Josh Norman signing and contract amount. So he has some credibility.

But to be fair, many of us were very close to his contract details, so I'm not sure if he just got lucky and punched numbers like we did, or if he knew anything.

Anyway, he swears he has a good source inside the organization, and that we are signing Kam today.

According to him, we would give up a 4th rounder this year, and a 4th rounder next year.

He says it happens today. Take it for what's it worth.

1. What's his cap hit? And, going forward, can we afford him too?

2. Personally, I would NOT let a defensive player wear #21 for at least 10 more years. If Ever.

I could go either way on this.

Take a minute and look at this video below. You will swear this is the next Sean Taylor. We could take him late in the first round if we want to go this route instead.

With that said, yes, I love Kam too.

 
I think out of all of the members here, you and I Mike might like Kam the most.

I'd love him here.......I'd also love maybe a younger version in that video.

With that said....I'm not sure we want to use our first on Joseph. And he won't be there in the second.
 
Hmmm, two 4ths for Kam sounds interesting. But yeah, I don't know how much truth there is to that based on the person "breaking" the topic (that random fan on twitter)...

With Norman's introductory press conference going on today, I'd put the Kam odds at 30%. It just seems to me like he'd want to fly in, etc.

But the source of the rumor seems pretty adamant that's it's happening. So maybe they could just get it done over the phone.
 
Two 4ths for Kam is a good deal, but how do we afford to pay him? We can probably manage the 6 mil he's set to make this year, but about the 8 mil next year? Then his contract is up and ... well, that's a whole other thing.

This would be tying up a LOT of money in the secondary.
 
I have my doubts....but this rumor is now picking up steam.

The 'Skins have shown some interest in bringing Chancellor back home this off-season, but most of that was prior to the Norman signing.

Chick Hernandez of CSN Mid-Atlantic mentioned on 910AM in Richmond here this morning that the Redskins have some interest in trading for Chancellor prior to the draft. Stay tuned.

We are paying Jackson and Garcon each around $10M for 2015.

We are set to pay Culliver $5.5M.

So, it's not like the team has all of its players on vet minimum deals and rookie contracts and Norman/Chancellor would be gross overpayments.

Norman and Chancellor are among the best at their positions.

I don't necessarily think you can say the same thing about Culliver, Garcon and Jackson.

Nobody has these players in their top five at their positions in the league.

Again, Garcon is in the last year of his contract. $10 million during the final year of a contract is not nearly the same as a five year contract that averages $15 million.

But yeah, we're tying up too much at WR. I said that when signed Jackson. We've been getting away with stuff like that because we had a QB on rookie contract. We had a RB on a rookie contract. Our starting TE is still on his rookie contract. We don't pay our defensive linemen anything. (Our most expensive defensive linemen has the 33rd highest cap hit at his position. Our highest paid DT has the 80th biggest cap hit at his position.) Clearly that won't/can't continue. Some players at at least some of those positions will expect to get paid. Clearing up some of the dead weight will free up some room, sure. But will they free up room to pay for two guys or are we actually going to build a defensive line some time? Are we going to keep Reed? Are we going to pay Cousins long term? Are we going to keep Jackson?

There are a lot of moving parts here, and I'm not sure "Oh, we'll just cut this guy" is enough. Yes, we can absolutely afford to pay two guys in our secondary a combined $28 next season. Is that a good idea, though? It means we will be lean somewhere else. I hope that's ok.

That's all I'm saying.
 
Both Garçon and desean are 14th and 17th highest paid. Culliver is the 21 on average. Cutting desean or garçon would almost mean we would have to take a reciever in the top 2 rounds.
 
The Kam rumor, at least from the guy on twitter, was simply a troll job on his part.

While the other sources may be correct, his story was bs.
 
Where do you guys find the stats like 'so and so is the 31st paid person at this position'?
