Watching Brees play behind the Saints o-line (going up against the Panthers) made me sad.

To be a well oiled machine you have to have a quarterback competent enough and with an arm to make the throws (check), and you need a line to give him time.

Not just time on one throw here and there, but protection majority of the time. Griffin will never turn into the elite quarterback we all think he's capable of being if he becomes shell-chocked patrick ramsey style. He has to run for his life far too often - and even when he doesn't have to he takes off anyways because its instinct. He'll never be broken of that if he doesn't have protection.

Out of everything going on, that was Shanahan's biggest failure as HC and GM here.

Another coach that couldn't put together a O line worth a crap.
 
Just had a thought re: the team name debate. IF we were made to change our team name, we need to consider something that depicts the team, so I was thinking we change it the Washington DILLIGAF's! Seeing as though the players don't, and I'd be surprised if most f the fans really do, it is more than appropriate.

Through majority of the season I've wanted Shanahan to be here next year.
Over the last few games I've been giving up, conceding the shanahan-must-go crowd had valid points, that the staff was just indefensible at this point.

Now, I don't think I want him at Redskins Park tomorrow.

If this is going down, if this is the end of the regime, then he needs to go now. He's going after Griffin now, and Griffin is going to be here for a while. We have to protect him.

The only other salvageable way out of this, to me, is for Snyder to have a press conference backing Shanahan, his decisions, that Shanahan will be here next year. Even if it's complete BS from Snyder.

There really is no other choice at this point. Until Shanahan is gone and a new staff is brought in (or Snyder makes some statement supporting the current staff) there's no way anyone can discuss the future of this team. This is what we're left with right now.

This is what we are. The circus has arrived and set up right on our front lawn.

He referred to it as ' something that happened last year'

Talked to someone w/ knowledge of relationship between Snyder and Griffin tonight. Said the two haven't spent time together since offseason.
 
I think it's bad. Really bad. I see no way that Shanahan survives now. I'm not sure how we fire him in-season though - who are you going to turn the team over to? Haslett? Morris? Just seems like they'd almost have to wait until the season is done. But man, if they do, that's going to be a rough month for everyone involved.

I know a lot of you guys hate him, but I was looking forward to seeing if Kyle could move up to head coach. You never know - setting aside the bitching about playcalling - we may have had our up and coming young coach under the roof the whole time. I suspect now, we'll never know (or we'll find out when he gets his shot elsewhere.

Sad days.
 
Early today, I had my doubts about the report. It was a "someone knows". Now it is too obvious. Grant Paulsen now comes out with his one sentence report that Griff and Snyder have spent no time together this season. Mike Shanahan has cooked his own goose here and it is hard to believe that a two time winning SB coach could be so incompetent.

Crazy how fast things change in the NFL. A year ago the Texans were 13-3 and the Redskins won the NFC East. Now those two teams are 5-21.

He wants that $7 million, and no blame--a fresh start. A job for Kyle, and a delusional chase for the HOF.

The only way to get that is to be fired, sling mud about Snyder, and not to resign.
 
If Snyder were smart, he would not fire Shanahan now. If Mike is trying to get out of DC Costanza style so he can get the Houston job, let him keep imploding. The only reason you fire him before the season is over is if you have proof of sabotage. In that case, you can fire him and not pay him. Otherwise, Snyder should just stare him down until Mike blinks.
 
I still feel Snyder and Shanahan are to blame. They need to (or should have) checked egos at the door and worked to build a winning organization. Normally you discuss how the inmates are running the asylum...in this case I don't think there is anyone at the wheel.
