Random Commanders Thoughts

I just saw Michael Jordan on yet another of those Hanes commercials. Wondering if Griffin will still be hawking Subway 15 years from now.

That RG3 documentary was good last night. Truth be told, I was expecting it to be pretty awful--a 60 minute Subway commercial.

As it turns out, it was probably only 6 minutes of Subway, and the rest was pretty good.

I actually found it entertaining and neat to see him go from barely being able to walk to participating in workout competitions against people.

I can see where other teams' fans are starting to hate his exposure more and more... It's how I have felt about every star in the NFL not on my team in Every commercial for the past 2 decades. Eff em

Oh yeah, definitely. I don't blame them at all.

And if, god forbid, he turns out to have a bad career we'll never hear the end of it.

Shanahan said in the post game press conference that Andrews shared "a few concerns" with him about Griffin. He was going to talk to Robert over the weekend and share them with the media next week.

Still said he's going to start on Monday.

edit: miles and tome corrected that last part, he didn't say he would start on monday.

I rewatched it twice, and didn't hear Shanny say he will start, only that he would discuss the concerns over the weekend, and let us know come monday where they stand.

EDIT :Just watched two more times, and he did not say Robert will start, and said monday he tell us "what direction they decide to go"

That's what I heard as well.

Hopefully the concerns amount to just a pep talk about self preservation.

If Shanny decides not to play Griff as a precaution despite medical clearance and football 'shape' then I would imagine there would be some heavy blowback.

You're right, he said he's (Andrews) "going to approve Robert to play"
Thanks

I'm so tired of the media cop out used across the board by the media of "We're tired of talking about Griffin" preempting the next 5 minute segment on Griffin... followed by a 5 minute segment on Griffin... followed by...

Sounds like Shanny is playing it as safe as he can. His furure rides on Robert as well as the franchise.

Ya, it does get old.

Ray Rice-Bernard Pierce duo headlines list of NFL's best backfields | Audibles - SI.com

SI ranks the league's backfields consisting of starting rb,backup and fullback.

Skins number....wait for it.............19.
WTF? I honestly thought we had the top backfield in the league, and I didn't think I was being a homer about it. I have had the discussion with friends of opposing teams, and they even agreed we have what is most likely the most lethal backfield in the league, and this was coming from people who hate us. 19? NINE****INGTEEN? Seriously, how ****ing stupid do you have to be to say our backfield is anything but top 3? I even think 5th would have been a serious stretch of reality. Absolutely ridiculous.

The incorrect perception is that Robert Griffin makes Alfred Morris and without Griffin Morris is simply an average to solid NFL back.

The truth is that Morris fits the ZBS perfectly and as John Riggins noted Morris has great vision and a quick first step which is what you need to succeed at RB in the NFL. Straight line speed is overrated.

If you are of the mind to consider Morris as being a legit 1,000 yard rusher on his own merits than the backfield is top 5, no question.

I saw on ESPN where folks were talking about DeMarco Murray and the Cowboys running game perhaps being a surprise in the NFC East.

Murray is nowhere near Morris in terms of instincts to play the position.

19 is insane, but 5-8 could be argued. That's if you aren't counting RG3.

AD makes Minnesota number 1. AD could go to any team in the league and put up huge numbers. It's still too early to say if Morris could do the same.

Hated Seattle also has a ridiculous backfield, and Turbin is an exceptional backup--better than Helu. We shouldn't be above them.

Is Alfred better than Doug Martin, CJ Spiller, Ray Rice or Jamaal Charles? Maybe...possibly even probably. Is Helu better than their backups? Hard to say. He needs to stay healthy first.

I've actually read Turbin is a massive disappointment, and Christine Michael has already passed him on the depth chart. I think it was Evan Silva.

19 is ludicrous, absolutely ludicrous.

To be honest, I don't care about the numeric ranking because at the end of the day it doesn't matter.
But this is how this guy justifies it...

paraphrasing: We are in trouble if our starter goes down.

So basically this is a guy writing a ranking for positions in the NFL for Sports Illustrated that's never heard of Mike Shanahan or played fantasy football in the last 10 years, because if you've done either you wouldn't make such a stupid statement about a Mike Shanahan coached football team.

I mean christ, where did he think Alfred Morris was this time last year? Most redskins fans didn't even know who he was... Fantasy football 101 is don't draft a mike shanahan running back, because he'll wind up rushing some no name guy for 1000+yards that year while the guy you picked twiddles his thumbs on the sideline...
