I recall Beathard had many a head scratching draft picks too.
As long as the team wins, it doesn't matter.
If you trust the GM,(I do) and you trust the head coach,(Not completely. But I'm trying) then we have to let it play out.
Personally, I kinda like this draft. And the more I think about it, the more I like it.
I also wonder if Ax's earlier thought, (that this years cap limitations, figure into this strategy quite a bit) isn't more true than even he thought. And as you all know, Ax is a brilliant man.
Fewer draftees require less cap room to get them all signed. And, if we don't intend on extending Garcon & Jackson's contracts, we don't have a lot of room to spare. Even after cutting Roberts, and possibly Culliver loose, we still need to have some dry powder available during the upcoming season in case of injury.
Stockpiling picks for next year when we will likely have more available space doesn't seem like a bad idea. Especially if McGruden feel good about the roster as it stands right now.
