Random Commanders Thoughts

I can't believe the level of hate that's developed for him by some of our fans. He was a great talent that got abused by a coach who valued a last shot at the HOF over this kid's career and the next ten seasons of our franchise.

I have no hate for him, but his great season was 3 years ago. That ship has sailed. It's far better for the franchise that he succeed, but I can be objective enough to recognize that he continues to behave in a counterproductive way. It's such a simple, no brainer that he can't respond to social media critics that I just can't fathom how he rationalizes it. He has to have been coached on this. It just defies logic.

I don't think his reply is any indicator to how he's spending his off season in relation to how he's preparing his game. It's no indicator of future on field performance. But it brings un-necessary attention to him and the team and he should know better.

Doesn't matter what time of year it is? RG3 has become a contentious sore spot for this organization. If it's not his need for validation through social media, it's his inability to remain healthy. If it's not his inability to remain healthy, it's his piss poor play on the field. Do you remember his play last year? FFS it was horrible for much of the time he was actually on the field. If it's not his piss poor play, it's him calling out his coaches for putting him in an unfortunate situation. This guy is becoming or has become a tumor...it's metastasizing and with every blurb on social media he lets get out of control, every interview he gives saying the coaches put him in an unfortunate situation, every time he throws shitty passes, every time he admits he was not fully healed but pushes to get back in the game...it continues to grow.

apologies my friend...but I think too many people invest too much time worrying about the minutiae of some football player's life. it more reflects the state of mind of the folks getting upset than it does the player's behavioral patterns - if you wanna know the truth. now..I have insider knowledge and will testify in court that this Elephant guy is smart as a whip and a great friend to boot. but that aint the norm.

for the most...all that matters is the play on the field. carping about some personally defined behavioral control scheme for social media is wandering far afield...IMO. the tone and vitriol employed by some suggests that the problem only partially lies with RGIII. just sayin. in the grand scheme of things....applying some ambiguous behavioral norms as the "standard" for posting on social media (i.e., imposing what a particular individual feels is the right behavioral model) is...in my mind....a stretch. yea...if the posts fall along the lines of "coach so and so (or player) is a d-bag who doesn't know his arse from a hole in the wall"...sure. but beyond the obvious bounds....we have enough people/organizations trying to tell us what expected behavior is.

Just my opinion. people seem pretty exercised about all this.

Incognito said all the right things at his buffalo interview and got signed to a 1 year manageable deal. Not sure why he wasn't brought in here at least for depth or help. If his head is right he could help imensely.

I've said time after time that Incognito is the kind of player you want on the OL. I don't honestly know how someone like Jonathan Martin even made it into the NFL, a league full of type-A guys.

Nick

aint never seen a tweet from him about being in the film room waching film (editd for you sticklers). he should try THAT. If you read through the hate comments that's the number one request. lol....not really.

Because the organization is polarizing without bringing in outside controversy. IMO it cant really afford PR reclamation projects, especially since its already taken one on (new GM/ trouble with alcohol in the past)

Well, it's unfortunate that both Luck and Tannehill seem to have greater emotional maturity than our pick that year RGIII.

Griffin is smart in that he did well in the classroom but he doesn't seem to do as well with people.

He certainly hasn't learned after 2 plus years to stop responding to and thus feeding the trolls.

Who cares what some idiot thinks on Twitter.

I am convinced there is a reason Twitter begins with TWIT 🙈

As a fan I could care less about what he does or says offseason. But as a player, he is bringing unwanted baggage to his cause. Not a good sign.

Everyone's saying if he doesn't play well 2015 he is gone. Well, guess what, he started off with a bang, then been downhill from there. Will keep going downhill as there has been nothing to suggest otherwise. His career year was year one. Like Campbell, he has already peaked and we are spinning our wheels with him now. So I say time to bring in some QB competition. If Griffin improves to average, that ain't good enough and we'll have to move on sooner rather than later. Bottom line he is an injury bust. We can't ignore that and expect his performance to magically return.

After watching this drama unfold for three years, I feel more and more like this is the second coming of Tim Tebow. The greatest college QB ever (Tebow and Griffin) but can't make it in the NFL. Sad for sure, only Redskins fans and the media won't come to grips with it because or year one. Well, Tebow managed a playoff win and he was virtually blackballed out of the league. Although beloved by the fans, he was villified by the press. So it is with Robert.

I'm ready to see a new QB in camp.

This is easy to say from someone who has not invested on average 1200 bucks a season for the last 5 years on Redskins related games/practices/pre-season. I have invested my time, energy and money on this team and I expect a return. I care more than I should, yes…I have also invested a fair amount of money.

What I want is to see my team succeed, so when I see "one more incident" coming from a young man I have seen live up to just about what I expected of him of a 6-8 year time frame, come to fruition in a 3 year time frame…yeah, I get a little upset…pissed if you will. I expected us to win a division with him, that's about it. I figured the injury bug would push him out of the league at about 5 years…maybe we'd be able to stretch it a little further. I didn't figure his fragile little ego would be so prevalent in his demise.

You claim it's a small incident…ok, this one situation is. Add it to the bigger picture, something you often require of the rest of us, it's another small incident that is a part of the whole…a whole pile of shit!

Sounds to me like someone attacked him out of the blue when he was just trying to be positive and have a nice interaction so he responded with a question.

Right, but like you've said…he brushes off most ignorant fans. 2 Days after the Redskins marketing campaign doesn't include him, he let's that one fan goad him?

Yeah, I know it sounds like someone may be manufacturing something for hits on their website, but you have to ask.

You can find anything if you want to see it.

brotha.....

1) I was referring to everyone

2) Return on investment: point taken

3) I didn't claim it was a small incident...I abstracted to the essentials of context: some folks are bothered by the behavioral patterns of another individual, a fellow citizen as it were, in social media. they are basically making an implicit statement about what they consider acceptable behavior. there is a place for that and I even conceded some ground, in advance, that there existed obvious, reasonable constraints. however, the emotion I was reading between the lines suggested to me that this was moving a dispassionate statement of principle to something a little more tenuous. If we're scope-locked on a..if you will forgive me the license..."Roberts Rules of Order" for Twitter management...then..yes...I think we're traveling from the bounds of reasonable football discussion and into the realm of behavior control...and personal value judgment.

4) It's doubly amusing cuz we all know....on this board...including yours untruly....that social media easily provokes many of us to feline distemper.

5) It's not that anyone adopts this pov...it is a free country afterall...it's how po'd they get when contrarian or differing povs are introduced.

expressed more simply...and equally value laden: there's a lot of anger just below the surface of some of those posts. WTF over! it's just a friggin Twitter post doomed to be consigned to the labyrinths of archive *ell w/I weeks.

your anger that connects performance to money/time invested? I'm with you a thousand per cent on that one amigo. Griffin and a whole lotta others on the roster and running the franchise. that is legitimate, principled, to the core of the matter pique in my book.

The mind sees what it wants to see.

That's why fans are not GMs.

You have to separate out what you would like to see happen with players you have taken a shine to and what you realistically think they can deliver.

To McCloughan Griffin is not 'our savior','golden boy' or 'face of the franchise' but rather a 24 year old qb with an injury history and a lot of improvement to show in re fundamentals.

Is anyone really serious here in considering the following an "incident" of any kind or displaying a "weak mind"? Ridiculous. Especially coming from regular posters of a message board who engage in quite a bit more than this on nearly a daily basis.

@rgiii: “Jamming to MJ on the way to get that work in this morning #BillyJean, What you working with this morning?”

@cperezrn: “This is why you will be cut after next year in Washington, why you weren’t even mentioned as the future. You are a 'QB’. Act like one.”

@cperezrn: “[V]ery simple, He cares more about his brand, social media than working in his craft. After the 2016 seasons respond back to me if I am wrong. He will be cut by the Redskins after those years. Brees, Brady, Rodgers, Manning don’t act this way. Very simple observation. ”

@rgiii: @cperezrn If giving back to the community and training for football at the same time is frowned upon…..then what would you say I do Sir? Not give back or Train? Honest Question

@cperezrn: It’s about the image @rgiii. Whether or not you are training trying to get better it’s all about how you present yourself. Your coach, owner doesn’t want to see you present yourself in this matter. Think about it for a minute. You grew up in a military family. I am also a military man. Ask your father, mother it’s how you present yourself.

@rgii: And I’m presenting myself in a negative way by doing…..what exactly?

@cperezrn: Never said you were presenting yourself in a “negative” way. Just seems that you care more about your social media, commercial’s and brand than football. That’s all bud. Good luck next year. @rgiii. Hope you prove your fans wrong.

@rgiii: And what or who makes it seem that way? The fans are the ones who support not the ones I have to prove wrong

@rgiii: Appreciate Ya. Players put too much time into our profession to be told posting on social media 2 or 3 times a day is a sign that you don’t focus on your craft.

@rgiii: I hear what you are saying, but for you to say those things to me is a sign that you don’t know what I am about and have been watching and listening to other people who have never even met me.

@cperezrn: I rest my case at least you understand what I’m trying to tell you and what your critics have said about you. It’s about how you present yourself. Of course we don’t know you. We know your social media, the commercials you make. That’s why I said act like the leader of your team. After you win a title no one can criticize you, but for now they do. Anyways, good luck to you.

@rgiii: No need to act like a leader, just gonna be one as always. The case you tried to make isn’t supported by anything I have done. Fun loving, motivation & football based commercials? Motivation and family related social media post?

@rgiii: Community events and gear going towards helping the community?

@cperezrn: If you were the leader of your team, why weren’t you mentioned as the future the other day. I’m not talking about your community involvement. Not criticizing that. I’m talking to you about the way you present yourself and many of your critics feel that you care more about your brand than football. That is ALL that I’m saying. I can be 100% wrong, even your teammates have said they aren’t sure about you. Think you have too much “DIVA” in you. Anyways I’m wrong you are right.”

@rgiii: Military families have class, dignity & loyalty. I will maintain mine. You have not shown any of those. I will keep it that way and let you go right off my page God Bless

Can you imagine if he said half of that to someone like Dick butkus or deacon jones? He'd still he apologizing. That troll took so many personal shots that had nothing to do with football he should have gotten slapped by his own friends for it.

Poor RG3. He's so misunderstood. Like I said - whatever perceptions there are about the guy, he's either contributed to creating them, or fueled them with ill thought out words and actions. He needs to grow the **** up and decide if he wants to be viewed as a serious NFL quarterback. And he'd better do it soon or he won't be in Burgundy and Gold much longer. I don't care if he shuts up. But it's time to put up.

I don't feel sorry for him. I don't think he's misunderstood. I do find it ridiculous that that simple interaction is percieved as anything significant at all. Absolutely asinine.

Product on the field is the only thing that matters. Most people here agree, but still play the fool and react to crap that means absolutely nothing.

More of the same from an immature 24 year old who continues to suggest he's a leader on this team, stating as much in an interview just a couple weeks ago. I would say it does mean something...it means he has not matured enough to avoid controversy. And whether you want to believe it or not, Mike...it does convey to his performance on the field. Gotta agree with Goal, he has proven once again that he remains unteachable.

It really doesn't matter how many times you say the same thing or how strongly you believe it. I do appreciate your conviction. This crap is a grand total of nothing. Absolutely nothing.
