No one has defended gutting Snyder or anyone else on a personal level, so I'm not sure why you keep arguing the point. But being loyal to a team you root for or love doesn't require fans to support the owner or front office - not even a little. I wish we had a different owner. I don't think that makes me a bad fan

And while you might be right about what might occur if Snyder attempted to 'defend his record, I think most fans would appreciate an effort to explain where we are going in the future.

And maybe if Snyder and company had brought even a modicum of success to this franchise, instead of bringing it to the verge of laughing stock status, we wouldn't have to worry about poor Dan's feelings...

Snyder could learn a lot from Gruden. Say what you want about him - but he is probably the most open, honest coach we've had in DC ever. Some of the drama he's created is precisely because he's open and honest.

The thing is, the head coach of the Washington Redskins is always going to be held accountable for the team's success. Even our GM may be help accountable for results. The only one with impunity in DC is Dan Snyder. He answers to no one. He's not accountable for a thing. And that's exactly the way he likes it if you ask me I agree that a lot of the demonization of Snyder, Allen, and others is over the top and uncalled for. But it's occurring because during their tenure this team has become an absolute joke (unless as Elephant pointed out, we count the filling of Snyder's pockets). My bottom line is that my suffering as a fan trumps concern over unfair criticism of rich men who have failed to produce a respectable franchise with on the field success.

I believe the more dispassionate way of putting the matter might be as follows: the Redskins are an enterprise. as an enterprise the basic processes of vision, goal setting, strategy, planning, implementation and execution/operations obtain. franchise performance over the last two decades clearly points to the fact that there have been failures in one or more of these processes. where did the failures occur? who is accountable? while a reasonable argument can be made that Dan Snyder is not exclusively responsible, I do think that as the "head guy" he is ultimately accountable and therefore responsible. it's not personal - it's about results, leadership and accountability.

what is confusing is that Snyder is not cheap, he spends the money, he just doesnt do it effectively. he needs to spend some serious coin on the FO, and on the less sexy parts of the team. we really need a real football GM, and a player oriented FO that is willing and able to look for talent wherever it may be

If it were, Dan Snyder would've been sent packing long ago as the defacto 'CEO' by a Board of Trustees responsible to it's shareholders. There is no one who is held responsible and accountable at Redskins Park and there never will be. For better or worse, other than the other owners, there is no mechanism or organization to hold an owner accountable for incompetence or failure. So, all we can hope is that Snyder eventually figures it all out or decides to move on. The core of what you are saying has been said many times, by many people. At the heart of every thriving company's success is a great culture. And I think one thing we can agree upon is that, so far, the culture at Redskins Park has been a dysfunctional one, where folks fear the CEO and are constantly and rightfully afraid for their jobs. That culture continues to be the biggest barrier to success both in terms of attracting the best NFL people to the franchise, and having them succeed if they do come.

When has this club,quit spending lavishly on FA for the quick fix or hoarded draft picks with a focus on the draft?

Even when they do draft young guys, if they don't instantly play like pro bowlers the minute they step foot on the field, they are labeled bust and the fans want them cut yesterday.

Actually I dont think we've had a 'rebuild' ever. Like DP44 said. Winning multiple offseasons, trading draft picks, consistent coaching changes, and not focusing on development is about as far away from a true 'rebuild.' Gruden purging the roster, establishing a scheme, then building the roster to fit that scheme over 3+ years would be a rebuild.

No - it's 100% accurate - you just keep trying to have a different conversation I've said exactly what you're saying 1000 times. The point is, that's not what the organization is supposed to be solely focused on, nor is what their customers (US) have as a top priority. Thus - they have failed miserably in their primary mission.
