Random Commanders Thoughts

I personally don't care. It's a "what have you done lately" world.

I personally think it doesn't matter who mans the GM post until this franchise defines an identity - like the Steelers say - and manages all its initiatives around that core. otherwise, we'll remain on this yearly merry-go-round of what next forever.

Sounds to me like you're cherry-picking the decisions that haven't worked out (and proclaiming Hatcher and Murphy 'mistakes' is pretty silly too if you ask me) and ignore the ones that have been great decisions. You get coal again in your stocking tr1 :(

Trent Murphy looks like a pretty good pick, especially after Orakpo went down for the year.

If you want to point fingers, Spencer Long and Moses might be better examples. But Murphy's been out there giving 100%.

Smith has been an evaluator... not a pick maker. During the season he hasn't been at the park because he has been scouting college players. We don't know who he liked and didn't like. Just cuz we picked in those drafts and free agency doesn't mean they were his decisions.

If we do not sign Scot McCloughan to be GM/VP Player Personnel/whateverthe****, Snyder just doesn't want to win.

That man is not on any NFL team after building two championship caliber teams...a 49ers team that almost came back against the Ravens and a Seahags team who are the defending Super Bowl Champions.

Pay him more than any GM ever made and let him build a championship caliber team here. He has proven his capability!

Murphy bashing....

This guy is a stone cold rookie and folks think he should get off the bench and average 2 sacks a game.

Just another example of how when Redskins fans say they would have patience with a rebuild, they are just basically blowing hot air out their blowhole.

Let's see what next year brings when Murphy's had a whole offseason in an NFL weight training and diet program and film study?
It's called development.......

Things have changed and I feel we're headed in the right direction. Beating Philly didn't bring that out of me, I've been saying it all season long. Young coordinators, a seeming change at GM, Snyder out of the locker room, a seeming change at DC, and a potential to split within the division are all things you can look at and find a reason to believe that MAYBE something good can happen here. Have faith my Redskins bretheran, we still have a team to root for :)

Seriously Tr1?

You are going to bang on a rookie for not giving instant production in his rookie season, one that ends in injury?

You're just as tempestuous as the owner you loathe.

If I truly felt as awful as some around here constantly profess to, concerning the current, and future state of our team, I'd end my miserable existence. Sparing the world from such embraced negativity.
But that's just me.

Others are free to radiate their misery, "Attention Whore" style, hoping to form a circle jerk of constant bitchery, with like minded malcontents. Ready to pounce on the shortcomings of others, while ignoring their own insufferable faults.

Oh yeah, and **** Dallas!!!

I will always try to remain hopeful, but Tr1 isn't far off. This organization has consistently failed, and then subsequently ruined the one bright spot we've had in Griffin.

I think there aee signs of improvement and reasons to hope a little, but I cannotb begrudge anyone feeling hopeless given the last twenty years. I admire those who continue to hope and see the bright side in everything, because it's getting harder and harder for me to muster that these days.

If you aren't feeling a little 'hopeless' and down about our team, folks could just as easily throw around terms like 'pollyanna'. Let's try to avoid labeling fellow fans. Where I have an issue is casting everything this owner and front office has done recently in a negative light, in some cases (such as with Murphy) before we even know what we've got, or ignoring great pickups, like Forbath and Way on special teams, Jackson on offense, and even with Gruden himself (no - I'm not arguing he's a great pickup, but the truth is, none of know what his trajectory, given an extended opportunity, will be).

The thing is, the fan's pain has been enduring and extended. Gruden and even Allen though can't hold the bag for that, and we have to realize that whether we as fans are sick of being 'patient', we have to be patient with the current regime and give them the opportunity to show us that they are moving the team's cause forward. It doesn't come naturally, because the losing and rooting for an irrelevant team, gets old. But it's all we can do, along with venting here.

tr1 - Murphy JUST GOT HERE. He's a rookie for God's sake. Let's hope NFL rookies haven't peaked. Skills can develop. Play can improve. Players can learn. No - Murphy's not going to get faster or faster, but he is going to get better in all phases. And as the talent level around him expands, that will only increase his own effectiveness. And you don't know that they were looking for a 'pass rush' specialist there - we're getting plenty of pressure on opposing QBs imho - it's actually one of the few areas where we aren't bringing up the rear in the NFL stats box. What I see is that we drafted a talented young guy with a high motor, great work ethic, and who is highly coachable. That's not a bust pick by a longshot.

Lots of ways to express the frustrations of having our favorite team not doing well. It doesn't have to be so personal.

Personal attacks are not allowed on members here. Yet nothing seems to be out of bounds concerning the people in the organization. From the owner, down to the groundskeeper. They are all open to whatever disparaging personal attack someone wants to throw at them. With little more proof than one's own opinion/agenda.

Doesn't seem quite right.

I agree with you. But at the same time, I'm not paying a member here my hard earned dollars, investing countless hours of my life following them, or emotionally investing in them the way I am for my favorite NFL team. And I also think that Dan Snyder brings most of the disdain, scorn, and anger upon himself. He could make himself available to the fans and press and openly speak to what he is about, where he wants the team to go, and what his plan is to get us there. He doesn't. In fact, he mostly ignores the fact that Redskins fans are his customers. We are not 'lucky' to have the Redskins to cheer on - it's the exact opposite. Without the fans, this team would be meaningless. His franchise has been a failure and they've been a failure for a long time. He likely owes the fans some explanations and insight into how he is going to fix this mess. I'd be more inclined to be nice to him (and I think a lot of other fans would as well) if he didn't wall himself away at Redskins Park and made it clear he is accountable for this team's results, which ummmmm leave a lot to be desired.

I don't think anyone ever questioned his character. His social media and public exposure we're brought into question as a whole, but I'm not sure the off the field things are what drove a good part of the criticism. Instead it was the lack of development and a frustrating lack of execution when given an early chance. Whoever is responsible for it, that's a long debate, but the struggle was there. Whether it was a change in him, Gruden, Snyder, who cares.. He's doing better and I like it.

"Gruden rolled his eyes"...you don't think the fact that gruden dislikes him drives how well he coaches or how quick he is to bench him?

There is absolutely nothing that Snyder, Allen, Griffin, etc... could say, in their own defense, that wouldn't bring a waterfall of criticism. With accusations of misleading, lying, and downright scumbaggery, from the B&M chapter of the fan base.

Winning will have to come first. Until then, every move/statement will be picked apart.

And if money can buy the right to talk about someone like they're simple minded, or an evil piece of shit, I'd like to know the going rate. ;)

No one has defended gutting Snyder or anyone else on a personal level, so I'm not sure why you keep arguing the point. But being loyal to a team you root for or love doesn't require fans to support the owner or front office - not even a little. I wish we had a different owner. I don't think that makes me a bad fan :)

And while you might be right about what might occur if Snyder attempted to 'defend his record, I think most fans would appreciate an effort to explain where we are going in the future.

And maybe if Snyder and company had brought even a modicum of success to this franchise, instead of bringing it to the verge of laughing stock status, we wouldn't have to worry about poor Dan's feelings...

His franchise has been a failure and they've been a failure for a long time.

Problem is...defining failure. As he continues to get rich and the financial bottom line continues to prosper, the team can be considered an enormous success. When he finally builds his palace, like Jerruh and Kraft, we will be the richest franchise again. That says a lot about his priorities. The Redskins are the 3rd richest franchise in the NFL and are the worst team over a 20 year stretch in the top 10.
