Random Commanders Thoughts

In his 4 healthy seasons when he played most of the year Brian Orakpo averaged 9.6 sacks/year for the Redskins. Ryan Kerrigan averaged 9.5 in his 10 years in Washington. Yet one is revered and the other is looked down on and considered a complainer when the truth is he WAS held a ton on outside rushes. I always thought that was weird.

I couldn't disagree more, Bobby Wagner is very important to this team, he may not be the long term answer due to age but for this team at this moment in time having him back is huge. 8 mil a year for what he brings is not a bad deal.

I've made my feelings on Bobby Wagner known. We all kind of knew he was coming back, the decision makers know more than I do so I guess I have to be OK with it.

It doesn’t matter how much money you have, you want to get paid your market value.

I’d argue based on last year’s performance, Wagner’s market value is higher than we paid.

Regardless, nobody is going to or should take less than the market will pay for them. A team can cut a player at any point. There is no loyalty. Players have to do best by themselves first.

Had absolutely no idea who he was when we signed him, didn't even give him a second thought, but the dude has shown to be a missile on ST. ST as a whole was a pleasant surprise last year.
Shades of Zo

Just flashed back to Lorenzo Alexander - he was a teams badass and would just DESTROY returners. Need a Zo Hit Comp Tube...

so was dean hamel before turning evil.
Maybe one day special teams play will be better documented via analytics or otherwise, something more the Baldy's iphone.

gibbs traded hamel to dallas after hamel charged him in the locker room after practice.he played on the dline and was nicknamed tazmanian devil.

I’m sure the coaches have their own.
Yep just like "Vegas" had them for all those decades yet we as hardcore fans only had access to the most primitive of stats. There is a story to be told how they kept those to themselves all those years, or, why no fans took it upon themselves to do it. Or what happened to someone who tried lol.

It's mind boggling to me how long it took for NFL advanced stats to become common place. So late to the game especially with only 16 games a year and 100 plays to document what happened. Meanwhile, MLB 162 games was tracking every pitch 10 years beforehand. NHL tracking every players TOI and shot heat charts for 84 games with 60 minutes of CONTINUOUS play.

Heck, we didnt even have a salary cap site to reference until recent years.

Remember late in Rivera's tenure, mid season of course, they finally hired an advanced stat guy - Eugene. Of course it was Harris that forced it. Snyder was too fucking stupid and likely arrogant thinking he served that role. Or, too cheap.
