Random Commanders Thoughts

The Browns losing in embarrassing fashion today might mean they are willing to deal some defensive pieces.

Daniels 15/22 209 2TD

149 team rushing yards. Rodriguez was the leading rusher too.

Fowler got 2 sacks

Chinn should have had a pick.

Only got reffed a few times.

Could have all been better but also could have been worse.

At the end of the preseason, I think my optimistic goal was six to eight wins and I thought eight was putting on some pretty heavily distorted homer glasses. I was okay with that. I kept thinking that this year was about next year and to an extent I still do, but ya know what...?

This year is also about this year!!!

We need to start generating more turnovers though. The fumble was huge. Almost had an interception, too, but the D has got to find a way to rip the ball out more and pick a few more off.

This is nuts when you consider where we were last year with Sam's interceptions. It's actually stunning just how well JD looks after the ball. He's not just better than other rookies, he's better than most Veterans. I think the lack of turnovers is a hugely underrated part of why we're 7-2.

Shoutout to Brandon Coleman. I think this is the first game he started and played the whole game. He did it against the team that had the most sacks in the NFL. Didn't surrender a thing. When his finger got dislocated, he never even went to the medical staff, just had a teammate pop it back in place.

As much as I flailed about Peters ignoring left tackle in the draft and free agency... this crow sure tastes good.

Ticket prices for the Saints game are dropping by the week.

I just spent some time reading a few of the Bears fan forums and some of their comments were totally delicious. Half of their fans are already talking about tanking this season for a top pick next year so they can move on from Caleb Williams. What a CF they are and so glad we're not living that anymore.

Then consider the response from Caleb Williams about having to play at the end of the game he lost yesterday....

When asked whether he felt he should have been playing in a game that was already decided, Williams said it was not his decision.

"You fight to the end of the game, if you're in the game," Williams said. "If not, [the] coach makes a decision like that. You have to deal with it and figure out the next steps. But yeah, not my decision."

Not exactly what you'd want to hear from the leader of the team, IMO.

So he was in the game and they were asking if should have been pulled?

There is nothing controversial there. He was asked if he should have been playing and said if the coach puts him in, he will fight to the end. If the coach pulls him, then he will deal with it. Not sure what else he would be expected to say.

Daniels has clearly been better, but Williams has shown flashes of what made him the top pick. The coaches need to find a way to use those talents to succeed. That’s what Kingsbury is doing here and why he and Daniels have been such a great fit. Kliff is using Daniels skills, smarts, and poise to make him successful. And so far, Daniels is rarely missing a beat.

The need to compare kinda cracks me up. For both of them, their success would be dependent on the organization.

I have a feeling if the picks were swapped, the current situation for both teams would be about the same.

Long term? Little more complicated even down the road 10 years when looking at hind and not predicting the future.

I’m glad we have who we have and will continue to be glad if he pans out along the lines of how he’s started out. The success (or lack thereof) for Williams won’t be a factor. Especially since we didn’t even have a choice as the team picking second.

I’m sure you’ve all seen on social media the last few weeks videos of fans chanting “Let’s Go Redskins “ or singing “Hail to the Redskins “ either during games or after wins.
I wonder if ownership sees or hears this and if it gives them any pause when it comes to the name?

The success is very much influenced by the organization, especially early on. But I think it's clear that Jayden Daniels college experience has made him much more prepared for the rigors of NFL quarterbacking than Caleb Williams has. Daniels level of calm and poise is night and day from what Caleb Williams has generally shown so far. Doesn't mean Williams won't be a star, but he's got a long way to go to reach the level of what Jayden Daniels is already able to do.

I'm sure that Caleb will have a long career in the NFL but for today I'm enjoying Da Bears tears.

I don't see how anyone can watch JD play and then watch Williams and say he'd have success here. He's made bad decisions and looked like a rookie QB all year, including yesterday.

Daniels looks like a 6 year pro in comparison.

Daniels had an unbelievable 96QBR yesterday, Williams had an 18QBR.

It's just not even remotely the same thing.

Because when I look at the bears I see a bad front office with morons as coaches. These are the people that decided to handoff to an offensive lineman for a touchdown when the game and division were on the line. They’ve made a number of bad decisions of their tenure. I, personally, think they’re bad coaches but that’s just my opinion.

I see the opposite here.

We see bad teams pick a QB and pin all their hopes on one player despite the org being a dumpster fire with bad coaches. And for some reason, it’s the QB that takes all the blame. I don’t see it that way.
