Random Commanders Thoughts

Neither Dallas nor Philadelphia look to be juggernauts or certain NFC East champs at this point. I wouldn't count out Washington in 2024. This could be a repeat of the 2020 season where the NFC East teams look like no one wants to seize control and take the title.

Why not us?

The defense :behindsofa:

Quinn and Whitt have to get more energy and physical play out of this unit. Whether we get beaten on a 60 yard TD every once in awhile due to the corners, we need to blitz and start knocking people down.

Oh I knew I’d get that. How’s that Philly defense looking, and Dallas minus Mikah Parsons looks equally shaky

I acknowledge the lack of talent in the secondary, but again I want to see physical play. I saw that from Dallas in the second half against the Ravens and the Giants I didn't see that in our two victories.

It's almost as if we are so worried about the big play we don't take the risks to make any plays at all.

You have to do more than rush 4 and drop 7 on third and 15.

You have to pressure the quarterback.

I disagree re the Cincy game. Not going to argue that our defensive backfield isn't a liability, because it is - but the D swarmed to the ball all night against Cincy, and did make some 'stops' holding the Bengals to FG tries vs. TDs. Without those stops we may not pull that one out. And yes, the lack of pressures is also a concern. And the TB loss is looking better and better as the season progresses as they look like a team that might go deep in the playoffs.

Yeah, I expect the defense to give up some plays, but both Jones and Burrow got to sit back and play the game with clean jerseys. We can't allow that to happen.

Guys have to know they are going to get hit and pressured. Otherwise it's a 7 on 7 drill.

So far Washington has given up scoring on 70% of opponent drives this season. That must be a franchise record so far.

You are definitely not wrong. My only point is that so far Dallas and Philly have their own issues and the NFC East could well be up for grabs on a year where everyone either had Philly or Dallas running away with it.

Sirianni and McCarthy look to be in the final year of their terms as head coaches in Philly and Dallas.

The Eagles are nowhere near where they were on the offensive line a couple of years ago and their defensive front seven is missing Cox and Reddick.

I think Dallas is a mess because of the weight of expectations and the realization the club is no longer an elite contender.

Dallas lost their starting center and left tackle in the offseason and Zack Martin is 33 years old and not what was.

I think Dallas made the mistake of giving some very good players massive contracts only elite players *might* warrant. And that has limited their ability to keep the band together around them.

If I were the owner I would have taken the criticism and walked away from Dak Prescott the last time the team had an out on his contract and started a rebuild.

Dak is a good player but he is not Mahomes, and giving him $50 and now $60M to play quarterback only kicks the can down the road.

Dak is like Kirk Cousins, his statistics lull you into a false sense that a championship is right around the corner if you can just add that one additional piece, but in the end these quarterbacks do not elevate their teams in the postseason.

... and imagine, all it took was swapping out our front office, coaching staff, and sixty plus percent of our roster.

The rebuild is not done, but you have to be excited about how it looks in its early stages and how fast competent rebuilds can be. Heck, Rivera would have said, "We're only in year six! What can you expect?" and Snyder would have said, "We're only in year twenty-five!"

I’m am thankful that yesterday’s game is the last one this season that I have to stay up until stupid o’clock in the morning to watch.

hate to break it to you, but we play Carolina at 4:25pm on Oct 20

I'm with this fan. We've had nothing to be proud (other than blips here and there) during the Snyder years. So, I'm truly enjoying this! Let's go!
