Random Commanders Thoughts

Our spend to trade deficit is so bad. We overpay for players only to lose them for either nothing or a fraction of what we pay.

What players spring to mind that fit those parameters, Mike?

Would anyone else not be surprised if Dotson was one of the players that cried to Rivera about Bieniemy’s tough love?

I know that Logan Thomas was the chief suspect but…

I get your ‘reduced cost’ thought since he’s a former first rounder - but trades are mostly based on performance not draft position. I think that’s good value for a WR who’s never had more than 40 catches or so and who hasn’t been able to be a reliable starter.

Don't necessarily like trading within the division however can't say I think we got hosed, draft is usually based on potential, trades based on what's actually happened.

The fact they weren’t worried about trading within the division speaks volumes about how they assess Dotson’s skill set.

Not to mention that draft picks are based on ‘perceived’ potential…and that relies heavily on the ones doing that perceiving.

They won’t be right about every move they make but at least they’ve got the balls to make moves and it’s not being driven by sentimentality or worse, by the concern they might have to admit past mistakes.

This Front Office is so much better than anything we’ve seen we don’t even know what to make of it.

Yeah, I think it does too. But I expect the Eagles to feed him the ball for at least 2 games this year. Sirianni is a massive prick, perhaps the biggest douche coaching in the league today. So I can guarantee he will do everything he can to get the ball to Dotson those games to try and show up this organization. The angst and outcry from some fans will be unbearable. I’d be shocked though if he makes a difference over the course of the entirety of the season.

We also can't hold 'spending' cost of a player taken before this regime took over against them. They didn't 'spend' that. If Dotson doesn't work out, we can't be mad at Peters and co that we spent a 1st rounder on him and didn't get a return on it, they didn't make the pick. The slate is whiped clean in that regard.

Another Rivera pick bites the dust.

Any real surprise here?

Dotson is small at 5'10 and 185 and has trouble getting off press coverage in the slot.

He wasn't going to make his bones on the outside so once he failed to take that slot position over in the offseason work, camp and preseason he was surplus baggage.

Better to get a draft pick now than wait until other teams are expecting to pick him up on waivers or as free agent.

Cade York? I guess that is our 2024 kicker. We didn't wait around for cutdown day after all.

A couple of the other veteran kickers got hurt in camp that were likely cuts as the bad news for Washington on the placekicking front seems to continue.

York hit a 58 yard field goal for Cleveland but was only 9-12 from 30-39 and 4-7 over 50. He missed two extra points as well.

According to bleacher report we saved 2 million on the cap instead of the full cap hit by the trade instead of cutting him. I'm seeing conflicting reports that it's split into 2 years for the trade instead of a straight cut.

It sure was nice going to Redskins games on the metro when I used to live in DC in the 80's.

If they bring back the helmet logo and get back to RFK it will be 75% of solving all our problems

I remember a long time ago when we had coaching that could look at players and scheme to their talent. Whether it be a 6'3" wr or a 5'9" wr.

Guess Kliff is a system guy and not a scheme to your talent guy.
