Random Commanders Thoughts

There should be news. What is this windless Sargasso Sea we have fallen adrift upon?
I’m good with no news pre training camp. The news out of other teams is about hold outs, injuries, arrests, and unfortunately this past weekend a tragedy. No news is good news right now.

Other than Aiyuk it's been quiet.

Most recently he apparently shared a picture from OUR training camp on his Tik Tok. Not a fan of him even having access to it, but i'm going to write it off to Jayden Daniels sent it to him and he shared it.

The more upsetting possibility is that he's actually go taccess to the film, or he's watching with Jayden and now you're showing someone else you're competing against currently inside information.

Jayden has been saying a lot of the right things, but I have to admit it's not my favorite thing, having him 'involved' with this Aiyuk 'drama' even if it's on the peripherie.

So Gents - I finally bellied up and bought tickets and a parking pass for the season opener in Tampa. My new home is about 75 minutes away to the north.

Any chance that any of you will be in attendance? We really enjoyed meeting you all at last year’s home opener against the Cards.

A stripe of some sort is desperately needed on their pants. I like the effort to reach back closer towards the team's history with the gold pants. I realize there is only so much that can be done for the time being, but hopefully it is a sign of something bigger and far better a bit down the road.

I am on a roll today - also officially booked New Orleans as my annual road trip.

Bringing my son, brother, and cousin to the game (all Skins fans). Might also be joined by one of my college roommates who is a “troubled” Vikings fan that still complains about the “non-call offensive PI” on the Cowboys Drew Pearson against his Vikings on 12/27/1975 (the original Hail Mary)

Friend called up yesterday and said his office had access to discounted 'skins tickets and asked me if I wanted to go with him. Looks I will be at the Chicago game. I think this will be the first game I'll attend in person in seven years. Not sure if I will get to any of the tailgates. I bet some of them have still survived. Can't imagine Pez and Huly calling it a day.

The ES tailgate has survived and thrived. Pez, Huly and Mrs. Skinsfan and I are friends outside of all the Redskins stuff. We were just discussing tailgate menus a couple weeks ago. Try to snag a parking pass in the Red Zone and come hang out.

Well the company I worked for did not renew their sponsorship. So no free box seats and free parking for me this season
So your company bails once Snyder is finally forced out and the pain level seems to finally dissipating?

Don’t know where you work buddy but your organization’s business development folks must be masochists.

This is the first time I would consider taking a client to a game in years 😎

Love this thought! I was in attendance to that game AND greedily I remember being SO PISSED OFF when they let Frank Gore score a 72 yard TD late in the game.....

However, more than scoring 50 points - I want to see a SHUTOUT. The fact that the team hasn't had one since 1991 (three in the first three home games really launched the team to that final last amazing season) is simply amazing AND may be the one thing that I can't totally blame on Snyder (but, I will....)

I don't want Aiyuk. I especially don't want Aiyuk if I have to give up valuable trade assets. If the 49ers want to do a reverse Trent Williams deal and give him way then maybe, but even then I'm leaning towards no.

It's not that I think we are set at wide receiver. It's that this team has tried adding wide receivers a lot and even when it works it doesn't matter. Lavernius Coles, Santana Moss, Pierre Garcon, Curtis Samuels... we have signed or traded for a whole bunch of wide receivers over the years. I've never seen a ROI even when the receivers were good and accumulated great stats. Moreover, malcontent wide receivers rarely stay happy. I can imagine AIyuk, after a few weeks of losing on a rebuilding team, will suddenly no longer be satisfied with his big paycheck and start grumbling and diva-ing all over again.

Not what we need.

I get the malcontent argument, and I get pay/cost concerns. But those guys you referenced were difference-making WRs and probably some of he best we’ve had at the position. I do t understand ‘even when it works it doesn’t matter’. If you mean it hasn’t equaled wins, well few WRs do - but our biggest issue has been the guys throwing to our occasional very good WRs.

Plenty of reasons not to want to pull the trigger but he would be a huge talent add.

It doesn’t matter because they were not the difference between and losing.

Sorry for typos. In hospital with mom

Mainly, I think the focus on receivers is a
secondary to the o line. If I had to spend resources that’s where I’d do it.

We need to do whatever we possibly can to set Jayden up to succeed.

Adding a weapon like Aiyuk would do that.

Removing multliple early draft picks as well as $30 mil from the salary cap wouldn't do that.

There in lies the debate, which part of the balloon should we squeeze? Personally I'm not in favor of giving up what we would need to give up AND paying Aiyuk what we would need to pay him, especially when you what the free agent market of WRs is going to look like after 2024

Ultimately some of these guys are not going to hit free agency, but there are A LOT of names up there, which will drive down the secondary WR market. Aiyuk is not a no. 1 imho. He's a 2a.

Well we sponsored 14 different NFL teams across the nation and now we have none.....
