I think SI reaching for clicks is the most likely factor driving this discussion. They are a shell of what they used to be.
Josh Harris, per the Athletic, is buying in as a minority owner of Joe Gibbs Racing. This apparently has been in the works pre-Commanders sale discussions. Gibbs in turn is becoming a minority partner in Harris’ business group.
Gibbs is not part of the Harris Commanders purchase although wouldn’t be surprised if he eventually joins that group.?
I think he could join as a minority owner but he’s not going to be part of football or the front office ever again.
Do we have any idea of the money put up by the current minority owners in the deal? Gibbs has done well, but I wonder how much money he could really put up against that 6 billion. Of course, they could give him a tiny slice just to gain the benefits of saying he's part of Washington again.
You don't think the greatest coach in our history and one of the greatest in the NFL won't be involved with the team? Even just motivational speaking or locker room hyping? Joe Gibbs could randomly clear his throat in a hallway and it will draw a crowd that's just hoping he says something else.I think he could join as a minority owner but he’s not going to be part of football or the front office ever again.
I don't think he's putting up an capital. The only inclusion he would have at this point is being connected to Harris' company. It would be a couple degrees of separation (but not completely disconnected)
