Random Commanders Thoughts

I wonder if they're waiting to see if the new ownership would be in favor of the pub or not?

I don't want us on Hard Knocks at all tbh. Always felt it was too much of a distraction and even though we have good vibes right now with the exit of Snyder, still prefer the spotlight to be on another organization.

Yeah, totally agree but I guess it’s inevitable it will happen and as Om said recently, this is probably a more likely year given a new owner, new OC, and new QB. I have never watched a single episode of Hard Knocks.

I’m not opposed to it. It’s not like there is a jinx associated with being on Hard Knocks and it affords fans of the franchise with an unprecedented look inside. Considering that the team is widely expected to finish last in the division, what is the worst that could happen? There is probably no better time than now considering all of the circumstances surrounding the team.

I’ve never really watched it but if they touch on the off the field stuff it will be a way to further ruin Snyder ‘s reputation or lack there of. Not sure legally what they they could say if anything and that matter though

That statistic just shows again how hard it is to be a fan of this organization haha. Us fans deserve a good season! Stuck with the burgundy and gold through so many ups and downs its been crazy and will always do so.

For comparison's sake, the next closest team on the list is Jacksonville at 2007 - we have gone almost twice as long.

Talk about futility.

I wouldn’t say ‘stocked’. Curl is very good if he can stay on the field. Forrest and Reaves have been pleasant surprises but neither would likely start on most NFL teams. Butler is a good special teamer but not sure he will ever be a full time starter?

By contrast, we absolutely ARE stocked at Young’s position. If you think Forrest is a future pro bowler (and he has looked great at times) and that Curl will be resigned and be able to stay healthy, I can see feeling we are set.

I doubt any high profile trades happen but I’d do this one in a heartbeat.

I guess we also need to know what the plan is for Quan Martin … is he going to play nickel corner, safety, or some hybrid position? If he’s penciled in at a safety spot that probably makes this a non-starter…

With respect John, we are not stocked at DE...we are stocked at DL. Most of that great depth is in the middle with Mathis and Ridgeway. Yes, we have guys who can play DE, as proven while Chase was out, but after Sweat and Young all we have are "guys". And we have to replace one of those as Tony is on suspension for gambling (idiot).

I feel better about our Safety depth right now than our DE depth, especially after adding Martin in the draft.

I'm getting sick of every website screaming "XYZ is the perfect fit for a Young trade"

I get that it's the off-season, but none of these stories have any legs to them. It's all just the same opinion but with a different team on it.

Fair take. I guess I was focused not on ‘whether to trade him’ but that if they did, you don’t turn up your nose at a pro bowl safety because of Forrest and Reaves (again, with Martin a ?). I get there may be other positions of need as Burgold referenced but that’s not the theoretical scenario.

I also get your argument but I guess I’m more comfortable with Young’s replacements than you are.

I guarantee you they’ve entertained trading him. The fact he hasn’t been given a 5th year option (as the #2 pick in the draft!) screams it. But you’re right these are just hypotheticals.

All this conjecture is not really gonna lead to anything imo. I foresee Young being the starter in Week 1 and hopefully he gets his head out of his ass and live up to being such a high draft pick.; that's the best scenario for the organization.

We discussed this last year with Payne. If you have no intention to sign Young, then trade him and get some value back. I wouldn’t trade him for a bag of footballs, but if they can get some good players or picks in return, it will be better than getting nothing. I guess a 3rd rounder is what they get if he walks. But when we did this last year, we were all perplexed they didn’t trade Payne, and I’d say shocked when they re-signed Payne. Will they do the same again? If they don’t move him, then they must be counting on him to have a year like Payne did last year.
