Predict Our Record This Season

Cincinnati is another option to have the number one pick. Of course even if you have Andy Dalton, if you have a chance to Luck they might draft him.

which has me wondering what other quality QBs will be in the draft next year. heck...Luck may not even fit the profile Shanahan wants/needs for his offense. I'm in the odd position of thinking we will be a better team...but that the record will not show it. I see tighter games.....more respectable performances...but the same outcomes.

until we find our franchise QB...we will not compete come playoff time. when everything is said and done, I believe we are stuck this season with what has been a major problem for years - no real deep threat.....an average threat in the middle to deep mid-field passing game. DM created somewhat of a deep threat, but then went off on his own tangent and was eventually benched.

from an aesthetic pov...I want to puke every time I watch RG drop back to pass. aside from the fact that one nver knows whether this is the next turn-over opportunity in the queue for this guy.....he just looks ugly as a QB to me. he doesn't look athletic and fluid to me. oh well.......focus this season, for me, is improvement in other areas in anticipation of filling out this last critical piece next year.

I agree on the franchise QB. To an extent, until you have someone you can truly rely on back there (and honestly, how long has it been since the Redskins have had that kind of guy?), you're just spinning your wheels.

If Andrew Luck were the kind of 'can't miss' Peyton Manning-type QB, it would probably be worth it to pull a Mike Ditka (we'll give you every pick we've got this year to get him) kind of a move. Redskins fans would howl bloody murder, but if Luck proved to be the real deal, it might be the right decision. Problem is - even with a guy like Luck, there really is no way of absolutely knowing if he'll be 'that guy'.

Absolutely, it would be a HUGE gamble. Taking a QB in the first round is big, multiple that by a factor of one hundred when you talk a out trading in your entire draft for one player.

Technically, both Jones & Luck could stay in school another year.

Luck fits the Shanahan QB profile to a T. He's got a huge arm, is very mobile, but most importantly he's very accurate on the run. It's a match made in heaven, and I think Shanny will do whatever it takes to draft him. And I seem to remember Shanahan has had pretty good luck with Stanford QBs...

until the Mcrapp debacle I would have taken shannys word about QBs over almost anyones, the man made chicken salad out of chicken poop with Plummer, and made other marginal guys look much better than they were, but now I am a tad leery. however if he says Luck is the man, then we had better do what it takes to get him, how many of you would not have given up Mcrapp and our 1st rounder to get bradford knowing what we know now?

CAN beat and WILL beat are two very different animals.

we can beat:
AZ I agree
Dallass I doubt it, I think their defence will be worlds better with Ryan there.
St Louis I highly doubt it, we should have beaten them last year and bradford ate hasletts lunch.
Carolina yes this is a winnable game
Buffalo perhaps
San Fransisco perhaps
Miami I doubt it
Seattle I really doubt it

maybe:
Philly x2 nope, they have film on us now
Minnesota nope they will run the ball easily on us
NYG maybe, but more likley we will get ****canned

wont win:
Dallass
New England
Jets
Giants

I see 3 maybes and a probably and a whole lot of " goddamn I dont want to talk about football on monday mornings"

I'll say we have a realistic shot at the following.

AZ
Buffalo
Carolina
San Fransisco

split with Dallas
split with the Giants

Those are the ones I used for my estimate of a likely 6-10 record.

Outside shot at Miami-maybe...

Seattle is at the sound funnel known as Qwest field. QBs have a hard time being heard.

Minny has McNabb and revenge is a hell of a motivator.

(The Pats have Haynesworth, I know, but they likely won't need him-they're just better than us.)

This is also why I've mentioned the Week 7 through Week 12 stretch of the season as one of the main things to use in gaugung just how much, if any, improvement the Skins have made. These are teams that should be "beatable" and I'm looking at a plausible 3-3 record for that stretch. If its 4-2, I'll feel pretty decent. If its 2-4, not so good.

(If that stretch is 1-5, I'll go into hiding as no human being will want to be around me at that point. :()

5-11. But it will be a "good" 5-11. The foundation is being laid and it will be a builder's masterpiece in the years to come.

I can't even take a stab at predicting a record until I see the QBs play. But I agree that we're building this thing the right way -- finally -- and it will pay off at some point.

I agree with BB though. If we end up with the expected "bad" record, it'll be a "good" bad record.

Mike, we played GB when they were in the middle of a huge run of injuries, we had luck and timing and still ended up with a brutal record, we actually played a lot of teams last year when they were hurting. I do think that with a young roster, even if we lose a pile of games, we will improve rather than get worse, old teams get worse, young teams get better, its really that simple.

I say 7-9. We will probably be 2-4 in the division again. However, we do have Buffalo, Carolina and the NFC West. We should beat Buffalo and Carolina and go 2-2 in the NFC West. With Miami and Minnesota on the schedule we should be able to win one of those games. The Vikings will either have a QB that Shanny and Haslett saw in practice for a year or they will have a rookie QB that we should be able to pressure. I am not super optimistic but I think our D will be really good.

That gives us a draft pick between 10 and 15. Hard to trade up to #1 but not impossible:)

agree...for the most part. but...in my book.....every SB team has a couple uber talents/stars that get them over the top. players opposing teams specifically have to gameplan for. no one like that on our roster yet.

We don't know that yet either, to counter. We have so much youth, it isn't improbable that we have a gamechanger on the roster already, and just don't know it.

As for what we do know, Landry before his injury last year, we getting to that status. Playing the right position was a revelation last year. If he can get back to form (no guarantees at all), he could be what you are talking about.

good points. I don't see it yet...closest we have to a "better than his peers" uber talent is Rak. Landry when healthy isn't uber talent in my book...but he is critical to how our defense plays. let's hope Williams moves into the upper echelon this year.

otherwise.......as you suggest...with heavy roster turn-over it's an open book. rebuilding years...wish they had started last season and hadn't wasted last years draft.

lol taking credit for injuries now are we? actually Finley was playing hurt already, matthews pulled a hammy or tweaked a knee right? they were down to their third TE and third RB back up wides and they had a run of injuries on their Oline, the only reason I know all that is that one of my buddies is a huge GB fan and I watched the game with him lol. im ok with guys trying to find positives in what was an execrable season, but come on man lol.

I think I'm being pretty optimistic: 7-9.

I think we're a better team and going in the right direction. Although, I wouldn't be shocked if we ended up with less wins than last season despite that.

Whatever they do, don't fire Shanny after this year... one more year no matter what.

come on yourself. did finley start and play? sure did. did matthews play? sure did. did they both leave after our guys hit them and put them out? sure did.

Actually, I'm pretty sure Finley's injury was non-contact. But your point still stands - he was playing and that's all that matters.

i dont care what you and "your buddy" saw any more than I care about what someone else that obviously is just hating on this team thinks they saw.

Yeah, some dude biased towards the Packers is not the best source of info. :)

I have never understood guys taking credit for injuries, especially non contact injuries or when a player is already playing banged up, injuries are a massive part of football and last season we were lucky enough to play sveeral banged up teams and GB was good enough to win with a lot of back ups.
