Cleveland doesn't have a top 10 pick.
If the Eagles want to move up and take Mariota they need to deal with TN, JAX or WASH.
I don't think the rumor is even true, but the idea is that the Eagles would recoup a 1st round pick in the deal to then use as bait to move up.

HCs know that they are likely to be fired at the end of their first contracts or earlier. Turnover is just so high. Because of that, a HC may as well be aggressive and try to get "their guy" and at least go down swinging.
GMs who are in charge will hopefully have a longer term view.
That's why Mariota likely won't even get past 6.
Another truth is that HCs don't get fired for picking first round busts at QB. Fans and cities can forgive that.
But if you don't pick that QB and he becomes a star while your team still sucks? Pack your bags.
Well, until they call me, they won't know for sure.Every GM running a team without an established QB is surely not just studying shitloads of game film on Mariota, but turning over every rock they can find on his character and emotional makeup ... and probably burning incense and supplicating the gridiron gods for insight.

I like Tandler's hypothesis that there is a scenario that is becoming more likely where Leonard Williams falls to us at #5.
Bucs - Winston
Titans - Mariota
Jags - Fowler
Raiders - White or Cooper
Redskins - Williams
And if that scenario holds, forget about moving down................draft the man and have a potential all-pro on the line for the next generation![]()

I don't really even remember anyone thinking clowney was going to be good.
