PFT: Washington may be in the Mariota business

At the end of training camp, the rumors were that Gruden liked McCoy best. I think it was all downhill from there.

whether he liked him or not is not the point Gibbs 1 liked Stan Humphries and thought he would be better than Mark Rypien coming out of the 90 or 91 training camp

drafting cousins when there were starting calibre Olinemen and dbs still available was a stupid mistake, taking a qb when we have so many holes would be yet another stupid mistake. we cant afford to make stupid mistakes anymore

So do you reach for one?

The difference is Casserly stopped bringing in capable talent in the draft and those Norv teams were poorly built.

He was a mediocre coach heading up a team of mediocre players.

If Gruden continues to stumble and McCloughan is bringing in good players then Jay's lack of ability will be that much more obvious and the case to fire him that much greater.

Norv won the battle on a lot of players to be drafted while he was here Casserly wanted trent dilfer and we got heath shuler casserly wanted that DE that went to Tampa and we got Westbrooke who had one good season in college

Cleveland doesn't have a top 10 pick.

If the Eagles want to move up and take Mariota they need to deal with TN, JAX or WASH.

I don't think the rumor is even true, but the idea is that the Eagles would recoup a 1st round pick in the deal to then use as bait to move up.

I heard the wizard of Oz was sending flying monkeys to scout out Jackonsville's strategy and the TN Man was pissed about it.

Hard to believe those picks will be enough. Philly's own pick is at 20 and the Browns are at 13.

Both of those selections point wise don't equal the #2 or #3 pick overall.

And the Eagles traded most of the players that would be of interest in a trade.

I think they got Bradford and he's their guy...

I think our best chance for a trade down is if Winston goes #1. If he drop, there will be rioting and a bidding war could take form long before we get to pick. Mariota I think could conceivably slide to us at 5, and we could make a move down then; but I don't think Winston makes it past No 2, regardless of who is picking there.

Mayock may have Mariota ranked #1 presently, but I doubt anyone who counts (ie,..NFL GMs) does!

they broke it down on nfl am this morning and it was pretty solid. Off field issues that he never changed and continued with bad habits..plus 18 interceptions causing his team to have to constantly fight to win when they should have been dominating. All of that and mariota playing well plus winning the Heisman makes sense.

I guess what I mean Mike is that I don't believe most (if any) GMs in the market for a QB have Mariota rated higher than Winston. I could be wrong, that's just my sense. And honestly, what ESPN analysts think is irrelevant.

Clearly an effort to accumulate page views.

And arguably the best talent in the country? That was the year prior when they won the NC, went undefeated, and Winston won the Heisman. I would think that Mayock would know that two of the three starting receivers were true freshman. That alone contributed to the interception total.

NFL AM is the NFL Network and they are usually pretty unbiased. I see both sides...Winston is a better pro style QB out the gate but Mariota could have a better upside to him. It has the Luck/Griffin feel all over again.

The important thing to remember is that these QBs are once-in-a-generation calibre prospects. If we don't grab one we'll never ever have a chance to draft such a high-level QB again.

.... until, well, the next time.
