I thought so too. and the fact they are both HMS cars...well thats just icing on the kickass cake :p

Once again I must thank you for making me laugh! There is no end to your HMS homerism is there?

MikeSr619: "Oh HMS!" :smitten:

Harvick's hardly a neutral observer in this case. I don't think there's anyone's opinion that I could possibly value less.

Both of you are missing a very important point...

Big Lips took the first shot - yeah, it was in a turn, but it was only a nudge. If Big Lips was smart, he wouldn've hit the gas instead of waiting a brief moment for Backflipper to gather it back up. He pulls away and wins. However, he didn't do it. The only thing Backflipper could do in that situation is put it in his memory bank for another day.

With Backflipper still there, you knew there was going to be instant payback. Backflipper didn't have the luxury of another lap. It was payback right away or lose the race. Fair is fair. Yes, I was holding my breath until I knew that everyone was ok - glad to see that was the case.

As for Yap Yap Harvick, he is not any kind of authority on the subject. Yap Yap and Backflipper aren't the best of buds either - conveniently forget that fact?

Brad hit Carl because he knew he wouldn't win if he didn't. Carl hit brad because he knew he wouldn't win if he didn't.

And if Brad's car was sooooo much better, as you claim, Mike, how did Carl catch him (after nearly getting spun) to get another shot at him?

Brad tried to steal the win. Then he had it stolen right back.

Poetic. Justice.

How unshocking that ken went against it. I bet if it was his driver he would be all up in arms about it but since ikt isn't he's going to try and spin it with the fair is fair argument.

Only problem is one was a nudge and the other caused a big wreck that got brad t boned..

But that's no big deal when ya don't like the driver, right guys?

Funny you should bring that up. My driver? Ok. Here is a youtube clip about Ricky. Take a look at where he makes an amazing save early in the video (it happened at Richmond in 2001 with nine laps to go). A little later in the video, you can see Ricky returning the favor and going on to win. The other driver was Kevin Harvick. In the past, the roles have been reversed and the only thing I could say was, "that's racing".

He's as big an authority as you guys are..that's a fact there

Oh yeah? Seems like he forgot something about Kez...

I would also point out, Mike, that while I am definitely an Edwards fan, and that clouds my objectivity where he is concerned, my track record is pretty fair. I admitted (after a number of replays) that the Talladega wreck was Carl's fault. And I also said the 99 should have been parked after being wrecked by Keselowski, and then going out and taking him out violently when he was several laps down.

I'm not saying I'm always right, and I'm sure as hell not always objective. I'm just saying that when I've felt it's been warranted, I've called Carl out too.

Never said you weren't fair, buddy. And I sure as hell don't believe that. I admit I have a bias toward my guy; just wanted to point out that I'm not a blind homer, that's all.

If Carl gets fined/docked, it is what it is. I just hope they take into account the entire final lap. Carl was pulling away from Brad when Brad clipped him, and caught him again to be able to turn him. At that point, Carl had the better car. And the incident never happens without the bump from Brad. Carl's car was faster at the end.

dunno man, if brad stayed on the gas he pulls away. I think that Carl knew he had to move him but went WAY overboard with it and spun him down in to the infield. thats twice now he has caused that boy to be in way or serious harm.

After the bump, Brad pulled away. But to get back to him, logically, Carl's car had to be faster, right? Or did the slower car run down the faster one?

I'm not watching some video on ricky rudd so you can act like it makes any difference.

You were the one who brought up my fanhood and my favorite driver. But keep in mind, the vice can always be the versa.

And when did I say that my word on any subject is the authoritative one?

For both of you (and any other fan)...If you don't like payback driving, please avoid your local tracks. I lost track of how many fights I was in when racing the local scene. We went at it for about three minutes and after beating the snot out of one another, we helped each other load the cars - or what was left of them.

Hated to see such a horrible accident on Saturday night, but Big Lips should take some advice that Benny Parsons gave to Kurt Busch on live TV - just stay away from Jimmy Spencer. He finally got the message and the two are good friends now. Big Lips will learn - then some day, the two of them will be friends.

Feel better now? If so, then great. But if either of you requests a group hug, you can rest assurred that I will slap you silly, and then some.

:)

yeah right. if you think i am going to believe you are partial at all you must be kidding.

nice nickname for him..but its obvious youre on the other side...

Don't take this the wrong way, but I really have never cared about how people feel about me. Now that the formalities are out of the way...

Not taking sides. Guess it is easy to overlook the fact that I used "Backflipper" to describe the other driver. I also call him Mr. Ed. Or Yap Yap for Harvick (funny story behind that one). Or Louie the Lizard for Kyle Busch (hey, he looks like one). Got to hear all the "nicknames" for Ricky over the years. Thing of it is, you learn how to develop thick skin.

Mike, you can have the last word, but only after one more thought.

Interesting words from Jeff Gordon. Is this the same Jeff Gordon who guaranteed that Matt Kenseth was not going to win at Martinsville last spring? Same situation? Maybe, maybe not.

However...

Jeff turned Matt, but had more than one lap remaining. If I'm to take Jeff at his word, then I can only assume that he would have turned Matt if they were coming out of turn four on the last lap and that was Jeff's only chance for payback. Hey, I'm just taking Jeff's word here and he did guarantee it.

Yes, BB. Also the same Jeff Gordon that shoved Kenseth while wearing his helmet AND HANS device, while Matty K was in a ballcap. There's a word for guys like that, but I'm not going to use it here. :)

Edwards - fined $25,000 and loss of 60 points. Probation through Dec. 31.

Kez - Probation through Dec. 31.

Now, some may say this proves that Edwards is more in the wrong here. Truth be told, NASCAR is saying both were equally at fault. Edwards already had probation (three races) due to the incident at Atlanta. This is the first offense for Kez this year.

So now we know what the penalty for Kez will be when and if he commits a violation.

If Edwards commits another violation, Jr. fans are hoping to have a firing squad at dawn. :rotflmao:

"I gotta say 'Thank you' to my fans who understand what happened there."

You're quite welcome, sir.

hmm...doesnt seem like you are calling carl out here even though you agree it was on purpose and meant to wreck him. dude was T-boned by another car and caused a pretty big sized crash.

So you quote where I said (twice) that I'm not completely objective about Carl for what purpose?

Like I said before, you don't wanna get hit? Don't hit someone else. It's a pretty simple concept.

yes but I also quoted where you said you would call out carl if he was wrong. wrecking someone intentionally is wrong no matter how you spin it bro.

you trying to act like retaliating makes it ok is just funny. if you slap me in the face and i punch you in the face with brass knuckles who is wrong?

You don't slap a man for ANY reason. ANY....REASON. I'd rather be punched than slapped. Of course, I'd prefer that that wasn't with knucks. But the insult of a slap makes it worse, IMO.

WWSD. (What would Sr. do?) Do you really think he would've just said, "Damn, ya got me. I'll have to let you go?"

we've already talked about this and agreed he wouldnt have been able to get away with how he raced now.

and stop avoiding the point because you dont like the word slap. use forearm shiver if it helps your redneck ass!! haha

Let me use a different analogy. Say a terrorist group kills 3,000 Americans. What is the appropriate response? To kill 3,000 on the other side and call it good enough? Or do you crush them and the countries that support them to make damned sure it never happens again?

Oh, and being the redneck that I am, you know I'd go "Ric Flair chop" over both the slap an forearm shiver. WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
