Derricke Cope won the 500 one time...did that make him a legit star driver?

A blind squirrel finds an acorn once in awhile......

You said "star." I didn't.
I know you didn't Jug but NASCAR and the media are hyping her as one when she hasn't accomplished jack squat.

In fact, Wilbon and Kornheiser referred to her as the star of the sport today on PTI...lol

Desperation knows no bounds I guess.......

I know you don't, but I can't respect anyone who gets their NASCAR news from PTI.

Rising star? Meh, quite possibly. The star? :rolleyes2:

skip bayless called Tebow a star QB

If he was still at Florida at the time, I could roll with that. lol

since when does the media get any love for being upfront and honest when it comes to sports?

I'll let you know when it happens. :)

if you hear one of US say "danica is a star" you can challenge it and go at it...but Kornholeser and that fat POS Wilbon? Man, **** them! how much NASCAR do you think they REALLY watch? That racist bastard Wilbon wouldnt be caught dead watching a good ol boy sport!

You called me on it several times when I spoke out about the attention she was getting. I can't say I agreed with you (nor you with me) but you're right. At least in a forum like this, or fb, things can be challenged. And hopefully, at least on occasion, we walk away with more knowledge than we brought in.

Unfortunately, ratings are the only thing that will change what the talking heads on the networks do. And there is not -- right now -- a legitimate alternative to ESPN; at least on TV.

Ehhh...I don't follow the sport like I used to growing up because I've become disenchanted with it.

It just irritates me that a sport that habitually changes it's rules from week to week can be considered aboveboard.

Edit: I don't mean to derail your guys' thread so I'll bow out...

You're not derailing jack, and you're always welcome, AFAIC.

If you make me "force-feed" you a PBR, I will. Now c'mere, listen to some Molly Hatchet, and grab a brat off the grill. *rebel yell*

:)

Danica starts 40th at Phoenix. She's back there with 76 year old Ken Schrader - he just crossed the finish line at Daytona last night. She gets lapped within thirty or less - book it.

If I'm not mistaken, she was what, 26th when she cut her right front? She was back there in traffic and working her way up. Not much she can do about the tire coming apart.

I think Carl goes back-to-back(flips) today. Let's go 99!!!

Mike Bliss took a job with the phone company. It's the only way he can get a pole.

That was awesome. Even if it was one of the drivers from the Richard Petty Driving Experience doing the stunt work. I laughed myself into the "tear zone."

That was.....Jeff Gordon ghey!!!

 Reminds me of the girl I met in South Florida who was adamant when I suggested Gordon was ghey...

She turned out to be the girl who broke up his first marriage, then posed in Playboy.

That was funny. Hard to see some of the humor until you have given a very scary test drives.

Denny has a spinal compression fracture in his L1 vertebrae. Still in the hospital and really wants to go home. Probably transfers to a Charlotte area hospital soon.

Well, we know why he collapsed then. That sucks! He won't be back this season...or shouldn't. Who will take his place?

Vickers or Sadler?

Btw, that was one helluva race yesterday!

So what happens to Joey? I think he should be parked until Hamlin can race again.

Maybe now these asshats will stop wrecking each other on purpose, or next time we could have a driver die....

It was good, hard racing and no one should be fined or suspended. I hate it for Denny and as one who cheers for the JGR teams, the news is tough to hear. My blame goes to ACS for not having a safer barrier in that location and a similar location around turns one and two.

As for who could step in for Denny, my guess is that it could be a younger driver that could be the beginnings of a fourth team at JGR. Vickers could easily fill that role, but they could go with someone like Kyle Larson.

As for the time that Denny will miss - thinking that he won't return until 2014. Dario Franchitti had a spinal compression fracture on L1 too about ten years ago and he missed about nine months. I would imagine that Denny gets a vertebroplasty procedure very soon. I had that done about eleven years ago on L4, L5 - ugh, just painful thinking about it.
