Official NASCAR Thread

We have it live now, so try SPEED and see if they are broadcasting it. It is only qualifying ATM, but there are at least two races scheduled for later in the day.

This is the best weekend each year for racing. Indy 500 on Sunday. A short time later, the Coca-Cola 600. The Grand Prix at Monaco much earlier in the day - I'll DVR that one and watch it on Monday. Nationwide race tomorrow afternoon.

Jason Leffler has been severely injured in a short track race in Bridgeport, NJ. That is just a short drive from where I lived a few months ago. It's a fun track. He was airlifted to Philly.

Gone WAY too soon, and a single Dad too boot. Praying for his son Charlie and the whole family. RIP, Jason.

There are no words...

Ryan Newman is out at SHR at the end of this season. If I had to guess, he will go to the 29 car - but needs sponsors. Outside chance of him going to the 78.

I'm currently watching the race at Loudon, and if any of you are Harvick fans, expect to start hatin' on ambrose before the end of the race. Once Marcos gets a chance, he WILL square up what Harvick did. To think Harvick called Marcos 'a freakin' weapon'! Not the best person to get the wrong side of.

ESPN/ABC and TNT are history after next season. NBC takes over their part of the schedule, including Nationwide races. The new contract runs through 2024.

Have you ever wondered what it is like to drive through the streets of a city with an actual stock car - with a nice looking blonde? Video is thirty-one minutes in length.

You never know what you will find at a NASCAR Sprint Cup race. This pic was taken about thirty minutes ago (from the time of this post) on pit road at Pocono.

Ah, just learned that the plane will take off on the backstretch in pre-race, then do a flyover.

Tony Stewart broke his leg late last night at Southern Iowa Speedway. He was in a sprint car race. He is definitely out this weekend and could be out for a while.

He broke the right tibia and fibula. Surgery was last night.

Hearing that Kevin Harvick will race the 14 at WG and Austin Dillon in the 29. This is a "strong rumor" - for now.

Tony needs a second surgery. He is still in the hospital.

Max Papis will drive the car this weekend. No plans yet for other races.

Tony Stewart went home a short time ago. He has a long recovery ahead.

Was hoping ol Max would have fared better. Was always a fan of his back in his open wheeled days. Hell of a nice guy too...
