What? Is Quinn just pretending it’s not normal for NFL teams to do this in blowouts (both wins and losses). He knows it is, so that’s wildly dishonest to act like it would never even be a consideration. In fact I’m sure he’s done it before

It’s the head coach’s decision who to pull and when. The OC shouldn’t even have input on that. It’s not part of their job box.

I swear. Maybe I’m an old fart, but in my line of work, if you’re in charge you make the tough decisions. And there are some you just have to make. Quinn didn’t need input on this one. Look at the scoreboard and make the damn decision.

It’s interesting, the way this FO and coaching staff seem to operate. Collaboration can be a great thing under the right leadership. But too often poorly structured “collaboration” is camouflage for someone not wanting to put their name on big decisions solo. Starting to feel a little like that here.

I really don’t think leaving Jayden in was a horrible decision. This wasn’t preseason, Jayden wasn’t playing hurt, and technically the game wasn’t over. You score a touchdown there and it’s a three possession game with 8 minutes to play. You can laugh, but stranger things have happened. The Broncos just came back from down by over 30 points in the fourth quarter, and nobody asked why Bo Nix was still out there. I hate that we have to play this game of putting our quarterback in bubble wrap like our best weapon is a glass cannon. I’m totally demoralized to see Jayden go down, I’m just not so inclined to blame the coach. It was a freak thing. It’s football.

I hope Jayden comes back as good as ever and stays healthy. Sadly I think we will have to wait until next year to see.

One is an immediate problem: Whitt is actively crippling the defense.
The other is a troubling, but not so immediate problem: Has Dan Quinn gone senile?

If Dan is senile, then there's hope he's like one of those senile people who remembers the days of his youth with absolute clarity and can still coach like a DC from 12 years ago. There's nobody left to worry about him injuring, so ride him until the end of the season and then figure out what his future is.

I was at the game. Just got back to my hotel. What a disaster of a game. We have no real playmakers. Hated seeing JD injured, but I had just told my son 5 minutes before, that Mariota should finish the game. I saw multiple issues… JD having no time to throw, but he takes off as soon as he sees a bit of room . Our D just sucks. The pregame and the halftime retiring Art Monk’s jersey was worth the trip to see The Posse back together. Clark, Sanders and Monk.

That’s a crushing way to end a season. The part this fanbase should be most concerned with is, that when healthy, JD5 has not played well this season. He’s not been awful, but I don’t think anyone here can genuinely look at his play and say it’s where a franchise QB in year 2 needs to be. It’s very discouraging to not see any magic, big plays, and mostly no progression over last year. You couple that with three injuries in the span of 9 games? It’s pretty depressing when considering the future of this team.

It looks like we will have a fairly high draft pick. Nothing should be off the table in the first round. At a minimum we should be going into next season with a better backup QB option than Mariotta.

You can point to how bad the defense has been, individual players, scheme, coaching, that can all be true. Above all else, and considering our expectations for this team, this offense has been atrocious.

Then why did they punt at midfield before that in the 4th quarter, after going for it on 4th and 15 at midfield before that?

Because they were conceding, seemingly. And Seattle responded by going into mercy clock killing mode. Then we put our franchise QB back out there after punting down 4 scores?

Come on, it’s nonsensical. Quinn had already conceded.

I just woke up because I did the sensical thing and went to sleep at halftime.

When I saw JD running on just about every play and then ran for that TD before the half I was already wondering why he was still in the game.

They weren't going to stop the Seahawks offense. They could have put on another 35 in the second half if they wanted to because they were basically just out there playing catch. Nobody was covering anything or anybody.

That defense is beyond horrific. If Whitt isn't shitcanned it's because Quinn knows that he can't coach that abomination any better. They both probably need to be replaced. This is looking like a 4 or 5 win season, if we can even compete with the Giants or Dolphins.

And i would not be saying this if the mods and others hadnt acted like they did over the last few months.
Sorry but when thoughts and opinions are attacked and banned and folks attack you personally in chat and not discuss the comment it leads to these types of feelings.

Been a fan since the early 70s but when you are constantly attacked step back dont engage and then try again and it happens again you get a bad taste hadnt been on the site in 3 weeks.

Yeah, you can’t lose by 21+ 3 weeks in a row and do nothing. Detroit will probably win by 35 considering they just beat Kansas City by 14 who beat us by 21.

To each their own. But here's my take on things.

A. Jayden Daniels. I don't get the unrest about him by some aside from the injury component. He's looked good to very good when he's had some semblance of a supporting cast this year. He's not had a summer like the typical QB where he could build chemistry with his starting WRs.

My concern for him as whether he's a franchise QB on a scale to 0-100, is a 0. He's a stud. I am not wavering one whit on it. Am shocked lol that i even had to address it.

B. Adam Peters. Gambled among other things on patchwork DEs -- no thank you to guys like Josh Sweat -- and yes to journeyman edge rushers. And lost big. He gambled on often injured Noah Brown as a Z with no net behind him. No net behind Terry and lost big.

I don't think he's a moron though. So I don't think they will double down on those same mistakes.

C. Quinn. I cringed when Logan defended some the idea of playing Jayden late in the game by saying hey there is criticism of Jayden getting no reps in the preseason so he needs it now since he's not had a ton of game time either this season. lol, I get his point. But that's on Quinn. He seemed to treat their camp more like summer camp. They got their asses kicked in the preseason and they shrugged it off. Keim said NE won both line of scrimmages in the joint practices -- it was shrugged off. I made the point leading to the Giants game and I got push back on this point especially after they beat the Wilson led NY Giants. But clearly its one of many bad coaching decisions he made. Keeping Jayden in their last night with the game out of hand is another. Hiring his BFF as his defensive coordinator feels like another.

D. WRs are killing them. While I bemoaned more then anything their lack of depth at Wr this summer. I didn't understand the depth of that point until this season played out. That is, having zero receivers not just makes it hard for your QB but it also threatens their health especially for a tough QB like Jayden who has mobility. Teams crowd the line of scrimmage, stop the run, play man against your crap WRs, and just tee off at the QB. Jayden playing with no one open will run more and risk himself more. So while Peters prioritized the O line to keep Jayden safe he jeopardized him equally by doing a crap job at WR.

E. Joe Whitt. I've not been high on him to say the least. Do I think he has good talent nope. But I do think he has average talent or at worst slghtly below average talent. They should be THIS bad.

E. Bad decisions plus bad luck: To compound these bad decisions they got a bear of a schedule, one of the worst rest differentials in the league and a zillion injuries -- and the injuries just happened to be perfectly clustered around their weak depth points and to major players.

Do I think this can be fixed next season? Heck yeah.

A. they got plenty of cap space.

B. I don't see them making the same mistakes with the roster. While I am critical of some of Peters moves, I don't think he's stupid. They will load up on edge and WR.

C. FA at least the current version looks intriguing especially at some of their key spots

D. They are likely picking top 10, maybe even top 5. They could likely regain their 2nd in a trade down or potentially get an elite player. And the draft looks stacked at edge and WR. Heck I am not even opposed to taking a J. Gibbs clone early in J. Love. But too early for me to land on a take on the draft.

E. Safety play has been really bad -- its one of the easiest poisitons to fix in FA

F. Schedule looks in theory easier. Almost impossible to have injuries to this extent

G. Terry will be over his hangover that he's the best Wr in the league and bullet proof from injuries and declining production in the 30s.

H. I doubt Quinn will double down on the super easy camp, am playing no one in the preseason style

You make your own luck. And many of us (not necessarily on this site) KNEW this was the risk of drafting a frail QB. The fact Maye is now blooming into a potential MVP makes it even more disgusting.

A lot of that is because we made moves at the position BEFORE Terry decided to not honor the contract he signed.
