The Good:
Nothing. Well, Tress Way punted well, I guess.

The Bad:
Nothing

The Ugly:
Everything

The abominations:
- Leaving Daniels in when the game was open, which isn't hindsight. People on the board and reporters (Sheehan and Nicki J. being the ones I saw) openly said he should be pulled before he got hurt. As Tony Kornheiser used to put it, this is a "gots to go" situation.
- The injuries are a huge part of the story, but there is something more that is broken on defense than just the injuries. Injuries alone don't account for Darnold going into the 3rd quarter before throwing an incompletion, and having 285 yards in a half, and not being able to stop the run. I don't know if it's just Whitt, or more than Whitt, or what. But something isn't right in Denmark.
- The WR corps probably couldn't line up and start for some college teams. Deebo could. The rest? Lane probably couldn't start at most SEC colleges, McCaffery might not be able to (and he's hurt now), etc. etc. Etc. And there really isn't any help coming. McLaurin won't come back until at least after the bye. There's just literally no talent in this group. Noah Brown coming off of IR would be a nice surprise at some point.
- The DE group is as bad as the WR group. There's nothing there. It's guys who should not be playing who are starters.
- The team has completely lost it's mojo. The magic they had going last year is completely gone.

By all means, have at it.

Our coaching staff is not good. No one was ready to play last night and that defense ranks up there with the worst I’ve ever seen. Felt like a Jim Zorn special last night. Thought we were done with those days.

Yesterday was literally the first game I stopped watching at half time for as long as I can remember. I have never done it but last night I did. I played some Silksong instead and looked at the Score app every now and then, and saw it kept going the same way.

I had no clue that Jayden Daniels got hurt until about 5 minutes ago too.

That sucks.

One more thing: I'm not sure what can be done. Daniels is going to be out either for the rest of the season, or at least for most of it. Probably should be the rest of the season.

The team isn't going to get healthier. The DE's on IR are not coming back. They probably lost Lattimore. Who wasn't playing well, but now they have to solve for another outside starting CB.

The coaching might be awful on defense, but I'm not sure there is a solution. They don't have the players available to be a whole lot better.

Same on offense. None of the WRs who are good will be back.

You can quibble with Kliff's play calling, but when defenses can lock you up man to man, and then stack 8-9 in the box, there is really no way to scheme guys open. You've got to beat that by beating man coverage. And we don't have any ability to do that.

So, I'm not sure how this improves. We could lose by 30 just about every remaining game this season.

Yes, we can replace paloffs is now, with Draft Position Tracker is now. We have seen teams, this one on multiple occasions, rally from 3-6 to the playoffs, but not this team, not this defense and not with these injuries.
All 1000% of this.

Who was that "strength and conditioning" dude we used to have around here???

Washington defense is one of worst in league.

The scheme is poor and predictable for opponents.

We continually fail to stop the run but refuse to play 3 linebackers.

Lattimore is done as a top corner.

If he were a younger player on a cheap contract he would have been benched awhile ago.

Washington learned a lesson with Johnny Newton.

When Roseman and Reid pass on a noted prospect because of injury concerns perhaps we should as well.

As it turned out Newton had not only a broken toe but a structural issue with weight on his frame and then promptly broke another toe after his first rehab.

Even when healthy he can’t defend the run with consistent snaps, looks like a platoon guy.

Not great value for a pick in the 30’s.

Cooper DeJean was the pick that should have been made.

You take an outside starting corner before a slot guy.

I’d love to get McDaniel as an OC honestly but not sure if our coaching windows will line up. Maybe a college team comes calling for Kliff. It just seems like we’ve already reached our ceiling with the current staff. Again last night was so Zorn like it was scary.

Peters should be looking at teams that are about to be firing their coaching staff to find a real DC.

For instance if Cleveland fires Stefanski then Schwartz will most likely be out there looking for a job. He's probably a top 5 DC.

I did the lookahead. It’s not pretty. Gannon is probably going to be the best option available out there. Not a lot behind him.

In retrospect, we should have replaced Whitt with Ullbrich like how McDonald replaced Grubbs with Klint after a winning season

This defense is awful. They could do nothing right. The scheme is easily defeated and the players can’t even make their assignments most of the time. I don’t know what the deal with Amos was, if he was hurt or just getting burnt so bad. They said he was hurt, but he kept showing up in the game. But he was not alone. Sanstril got toasted, Jones got burned, Owens got burned, I can’t even remember who the third string TE beat. But it didn't matter as they were all awful.

In offense, the pressure rate that was given, Collinsworth said that was unheard of. Some of these guys aren’t that bad. I know Seattle has a good defense, but the coaches need to adjust more. They were just hoping Daniels could run away from it all and make things happen. He could a little, but not what used to happen. Then we saw the end result of that.

I fear the Daniels injury will prevent the team from looking too much at the failures of the defense, because it does put a damper on things.

Relatively depressing 4am epiphany/ morbid thoughts:
Regardless of how/why/etc, JD isn’t lasting at this rate
Terry is 30
Whether it be coaching/players/whatever, defense is light years from being remotely competitive
Best offensive weapon Ertz is 100

This team is not appealing to younger fans and the fanbase in general is old as hell.
How many of us around here will actually be dead before this team sniffs any kind of sustained success?

I’m not even talking KC, Philly, Buffalo type success. I’m talking consistent non-clown show, GB/Pitt/Seattle at least half-ass competitive type stuff. This team is barely a couple of fluky seasons over the past decades better than the Jets/Browns/Raiders type shit.

Without typical rah rah bs, tell me I’m wrong. I’m talking

I will repost. Honestly, we've failed Jayden. Last game he played without our top 3 WRs. He's played most of his other games without his 1st and 3rd wr. Luke got hurt on the opening kickoff. Now he's playing without 3 of his top 4 WRs. For most of this season we are playing with guys who have done nothing in the league and wouldn't play on any roster in the nfl. We are playing guys like, lane, moore, Tay Martin, Burks, etc.

These guys have done nothing. Deebo is the only one and everyone in the offseason said that he's more of a gadget guy than a true wr. This is the biggest difference with Jayden. McLaurin is a true number one and guys like dyami and Zaccheaus are true nfl WRs who will have major roles on other teams like they are doing now. We literally have Deebo and no other accomplished receiver. The other only accomplished receiver is Chosen and we benched him after a great game. I don't get it.

Ertz is old and he's thrown multiple passes to Bates, the blocking te. Even if the season is over, we have to get him some receivers to continue his development. Lane is just as trash as our defense right now. We went out there every game last year with McLaurin, dyami and Zaccheaus. Also brown when he was healthy. It's unrealistic to play the same with the massive drop-off to unproven guys.

Actually, we've seen proof on multiple levels that this team is appearing to younger fans.

Jerseys in the shopping malls and grocery stores
Kids dressed up as Commanders fans during Halloween
Daniels jersey sales being among NFL top sellers.

So, there's a fanbase ready to go all in on this team if they are given reason. It's just this year, this team has given them no to little reason

we have to get him some receivers at the deadline to continue his development
Sorry brother but that ship has sailed.

Even if he comes back this year it'll be long after were eliminated from the playoffs with the exception of lloyd christmas type miracles.
No sense in bringing guys in now just roll with what we've got and have a serious soul searching offseason where nothing is off the table.

Last I checked, jersey sales don’t equal sustained success on the field. Hell, Shadeur Sanders’ jersey is a top seller. That’s your bar?

“He who shall not be mentioned” had awesome jersey sales. How’d that work?

Jersey sales is quintessential fanbase rah rah bs. 🤦‍♂️
