It wouldn’t be surprising. If he rebuilds the culture while the roster talent improves, and creates the environment for Daniels to develop, but can’t get over the top (or he and his assistants never get the D where it needs to be to complement Daniels, etc.), he would still be a successful first hire for AP given the trash fire the new regime walked into. I think in that case AP would get another hire 3-4 years from now to take us over the hump (or else). It’ll depend what the roster looks like if that happens.

Could be kinda like a better version of Jeff Fisher returning the woeful Rams to decency and then a guy like McVay taking them over the top.

The defense has been terrible (especially in regards to turnovers) which is certainly embarrassing when that’s what you’re preaching. But you can’t exactly stop preaching it and I guarantee you they practice it, so…the problem may be play calling and getting the players into position, as we’ve witnessed player execution is definitely a problem. So likely at least partially a coaching issue for sure, which will be on Quinn to fix.

But in the meantime they aren’t going to tone down how important they SAY winning the turnover battle is, even though it’s empty.

For me they talk about the issue publicly with a bounce in their step like they live it. But they dont. In the building i agree emphasize the point. But they feel compelled to share their credo over and over again.

be like me saying to anyone who will listen that I am all about getting A’s and that’s the mantra i live by while getting D’s last year and failing this year. At some point somone would tell me to shutup and get those A’s versus telling the world am all about being an A student. Specifically to turnovers nothing else

Just annoys me when people use that term incorrectly, because it IS a huge problem in the NFL (and everywhere). But not in this case. He didn’t get an undeserved opportunity due to his name or family connections. He worked in the league a really long time as an assistant, developed a lot of great talent, impressed the right people, and then someone he worked with thought he earned the opportunity to run the whole operation. Like most people who ever get promoted.

He’s not like the 4th Kubiak son who got hired in the first place due to his name, then as a young guy speed ran QC > TE coach > Pass Game Coordinator > OC in 5 years or whatever. That’s nepotism and it permeates the league. Some of them turn out to be talented but only got their start due to nepotism, some are so bad they never deserved a shot at all.

Again, that’s not Whitt even if he sucks.

i thinking you're reaching at straws here.. definition of Nepotism is "the practice among those with power or influence of favoring relatives, friends, or associates, especially by giving them jobs."
Whitt got the D coordinator job that he is apparently not qualified to be in because he worked with Quinn in Dallas. A position he has never held before while there are others much more qualified individuals available that have held the position before and have had success.
Working in bus corporate space for 25+ years i see this all the time... even if it was a promotion Quinn wanted to make it a nepo based promotion.. and Whitt sucks.. its time to make it right and hire a real D coordnator.

This is absolutely stunning. I mean, you'd think they would luck into a few by now. It's almost they want to run away from any loose ball.
 
I'm just sick of the conservative defense and unwillingness to adjust to what's happening. Good things have happened every time we have blitzed. Just do it until they prove that they have a answer. Even when we blitz and something good happens on first down, we then lay back on 2nd down and they get a big gain... Smh

Apply the pressure and leave it on. Our line is getting manhandled straight up and our corners can't hold up for a long time. Switch it up dimWhitt

To be fair most teams’ coaching staffs are saying these sorts of things publicly, we’re just obsessively tuned into what this staff is saying beyond what a normal fan is paying attention to. Every presser, then every podcast and radio guy dissecting what was said in the pressers, etc. Most fans don’t follow that stuff so thoroughly for it to become a constant refrain. So the discrepancy festers and it becomes a “thing” that feels like hypocrisy or embarrassing empty talk. Every team has things like this that nag their most obsessive fan followers who hang on every word, especially when things aren’t going ideally (or close to it).
 
There's nothing more annoying than when an announcer says "thats gonna be called every time" when we all know they hardly ever call it.
