Official Game Thread - Week 18 - Commanders @ Cowboys

The off season isn't far off, so he should have time to get right. Maybe our trainers / med staff see something they didn't in NO prompting a change in his rehab and training. I'm not quite ready to call it a bad deal yet. The team knew his history, knew he was already out with the hammy, and took a chance. I'm willing to give it a chance. Peters has pretty much been spot on, and at some point will make a bad call on a player, but for now he gets the benefit of the doubt on this one.

The game is at 1 EST correct?

Yes 1 PM EST

And we better beat Dallas no matter how good a season if we lose two games to Dallas it will make the season not so great

You seem to determined to be unhappy about this team and I’m not sure why.

Just enjoy the ride. We weren’t supposed to be good. We are. Caught a few breaks. Played a bunch of good games and one not so great game.

Just have fun.

I am quite happy. I just would hate it if the cowboy fans were able to say well we beat you twice so you were not that good.... I still have cowboy fans tell me well you won two super bowls on strike shortened seasons....

if we get swept by the silver jerry boys there is nothing to be happy about...you should seek counseling and some kind of drugs to make you feel happier about it

Did I say nothing to be happy about? I said it will make the season not so great. A big difference.

In my life the 3 superbowl wins were incredible and the two losses were tough but the Super Bowl seasons where we beat Dallas in the NFC Championship Games was the best to me and beating Dallas before the 72 Super Bowl made that loss not so bad.

nah im saying if we get swept by the cowboys its all for nothing. Only if we win the superbowl could we offset the cowboys sweeping us this year

Just joking too btw. Youre a legend Tom. repect

Key to victory - keep Michael Davis off the active list for the Cowboys game.

I rewatched the Falcons game to look at all the defensive miscues and to be honest it looks like Davis is done.

He’s only 29 but seems to have checked out.

He was beaten on several plays where he got turned around on basic moves and couldn’t seem to make any plays on ball when he was there for the pass.

Perhaps he’s just been in the doghouse long enough here that late in the season he simply doesn’t care about going to the playoffs with this team.

We did see the case of the 49ers linebacker that simply refused to go into the game and compete because he was sulking over getting benched earlier by Shanahan.

If we get out to a big early lead I think the Cowboys will pack it in. Don't let them in the game.

That's like a kid who didn't get invited to prom picking on his friend who's going because his girlfriend decided to wear a green dress, and he doesn't like green dresses. Still, the friend is going to go to prom and he's staying home, so who the hell cares what he has to say about it?

Sour grapes.

We might win this week, we might lose. It doesn't really change the nature of the season and how special it is.

Pretty sure when I look back on this season, I won't think "season." Instead, I'll think about being at the stadium for that Hail Mary. I'll think about that furious comeback against the Eagles. Maybe I'll think about the overtime drive against the Falcons, but probably not. I might think about all ghosts we exorcised.

It was that season that we learned not to be afraid of prime time games. It was that season where Daniel Jones and the Giants finally lost their grip on us. Etc. But I think it'll be mostly the fun moments.

I think the only time I ever think "season" is when I think about the '91 team and that's because it was all so great it became one amazing ride. This has been a lot of fun, but it isn't '91. '91 was seeing perfection almost every damn game on offense, defense and special teams. And no, I don't think about '91 and sigh about the loss to Dallas. It is not a stain on '91's memory. It was the exception that showed the team was human.

I was reminiscing the other day. Here’s what I want to see when we score on Sunday. 0.00% chance of happening but it would be incredible!

This season is awesome regardless of if we were to lose twice to Dallas. Finding our franchise QB and making the playoffs in year 1 of a complete rebuild is the definition of awesome.

But we should beat Dallas without Dak, Zack Martin, Diggs, Lawrence, Overshown, and now Lamb shut down for year.

We lost the first game not because we were outclassed but because we were sloppy and had the worst special teams performance in 10 years.

But that’s week to week analysis.

I don’t see how anyone would consider an 11-6 OR 12-5 finish to be a disappointment.

My God, just look where we were last year at this time 😇

I wouldn't worry too much about the practice reports for this upcoming game. Yes we'll be trying to win, but I'm sure we want our guys to be healthy for the playoff game more than anything. If a guy (or three) can't safely play this week, so be it.

I’ve been waiting ever since the NFL starting allowing team celebrations to see this. Maybe they are waiting for the playoffs, but I agree we need to see this.

I was bullish on Davis. Two years ago Charger fans loved him. Last year he regressed but not enough to make the fans haters as they bid him farewell.

He's a physical corner. I like press man and 5 rushing the passer early and often. Like BSJ he is going to take his lumps vs skill and in space. And both like Lattimore, and going to get flagged for PIs. But Davis's regression is so bad (yet still on the team) which makes me wonder if he is not being used to his strengths (press and jam at the LOS) nearly enough for his skill set and coaches are holding on - maybe in the playoffs when flags get buried he will get used more to his strengths. Or, maybe he is confused and still learning the scheme. Or, father time / injuries have him just lagging physically.

FWIW he has stayed on the roster so they are preaching patience with him, without saying it. He can't get much worse.... so no where to go but up at this point. Don't forget, Whitt tried to go with his 3rd year Dallas scheme and after a few games had to make the defense more simple. So maybe all Davis tried to learn this camp/offseason was for naught.
