Static. That's what this franchise is.
They are nothing more now than what they've ever been: a losing franchise that gets to a peak that's mediocre once in awhile but never becomes good.
Last night's performance, while disappointing,is a familiar tune for this fanbase. Start out poor and then produce a run that gives fans something awful....Hope.....only to return back to the mean.
The defense here is highly overrated and mostly a mirage. Good to great defenses don't let a Giants team lead by Daniel Jones, march up and down the field on them with never getting any pressure on Jones for the bulk of the night. Allen,Payne,Sweat etc made the Giants Oline look like the 91 Hogs.Jack Del Rio seems to be the only DC in this league that's afraid to go after Daniel Jones with the intent of getting him on the ground. And is it just me or do the Giants not have any viable weapons on the outside? No press coverage? Why? Jack, for all his bravado, coaches scared...alot.
If you guys want to know what a true, good defense looks like, you'll see one next Saturday when they face San Francisco, who not only has a better front seven than Washington but speed to burn on defense as well.
The offense...what offense? They could only muster 12 points of production and Turner couldn't figure out how to keep using Robinson who was averaging almost 7.5 yards a carry. Gibson had 7 touches total,passing/rushing. His talent is wasted here and for his sake, he should ask out..either a trade or release...because his OC is limited..not only as a play caller but as a coach as well.
I've said it for a long time and I'll keep repeating it: Scott Turner is an NFL OC in name only. He has no situational awareness and he does not understand his players strengths and weaknesses which prevents him from using what looks like to be some talent at the skill positions here.A pure waste of speed and talent, hamstrung by poor coaching.
Give Kyle Shanahan this wr group and running back corp and see what happens....AND...I bet you he'd get better production out of Heinicke also. He's doing it with the last player taken in last April's draft right now through scheme...something Scott Turner only dreams about doing.
Next Saturday, this team goes west to play the Niners on Christmas Eve. After last night's performance, I don't see how the offense even musters 10 points vs what's a very good defense nor do I see how the defense slows down Kittle and McCaffrey. The only way they are even in the game is if the Niners have a complete meltdown and turn the ball over 3-4 times. And even with that,I doubt they win this game.
As for me,I'm debating whether to even watch this game.Christmas Eve is supposed to be one of the happiest times of year. Should I risk exposing myself to feeling sour because of the 30 point beat down that's coming? That's a decision I'll struggle with this week.
So all in all,my signature rings true: Coaches change, players change but the on field product never changes. Why I still follow this team or how I manage to muster enough passion to make a post this long..........who the hell knows? As fans, we're all worn out.........
