Official Game Thread - Week 15 - Giants @ Commanders

The officials are either gutless, incompetent, or working under orders from the league. I'm typically not a conspiracy enthusiast as those are complicated and I believe the simple answer is usually more likely, but I am thinking we might have to at least start considering it.

Agreed I can see why people question it. I think it’s amazing how we love to say football is a game of inches but complaining about refs who imo blew 3 calls leading to points no less is considered taboo . They get a free pass
I’d like to see them adopt something to hold them accountable. Not sure what that would look like but something should to be done . They blew a couple big calls in the meadowlands game game as well

I’ve always believed in incompetence over conspiracy. Someone in a conspiracy will always want to admit they were part of it. But incompetence, no one wants to admit their mistakes and they are incompetent. It’s why the league makes excuses for it and at best says “oh sorry, it was wrong”. What’s bad is that wasn’t even the worst call I saw this weekend. There are a lot of bad officials in this league right now.
 
I'm not seeing any of the normal social media talking heads saying anything about those refs last night.
 
Like the entire season, we can't block long enough to get a throw off
 
One silver lining from last night is that hopefully the team realizes the OL is still a weakness and needs to be improved. My father and I were talking about this during the bye week. The offensive line playing better gives a false hope that the O Line is good. Playing better does not mean good. This has to be improved in the off-season.

The Giants had one drive all night where they took it to the defense. It was the 18 play 97 yds drive that ended in a TD before half. The other two FG drives, the defense stepped up and made plays to hold them to a FG. Otherwise, the defense did its job. They gave up 13 points and less than 300 yds. Those number should win you the game every time.

When they don’t win is when the offense has a fumble at their own goal line and it becomes a TD for the other team. And when you have the ball inside the 10 twice and score zero points.

The competition they are playing against is small fry sans Saquon, Darius Slayton is like a 40/60 guy with the 60% being drops. Then Bellinger is a reliable TE. The Giants have no one else and supposedly their OL is not that good. Those drives shouldn't even have entered FG territory if this defense wants to be considered contender-worthy. Jones looked like freaking Tom Brady in just slicing and dicing by finding the open guy.

1... yes the O-line didn't protect it well enough, but it's also obvious Dotson is going to break free right here:

Before the pressure got there. The FS i on the opposite hashmark, the SS is coming down to cover Thomas, and the DB is just about 'even' with Dotson.. that's open in the NFL.

The DB then breaks off and comes down to the flat vs Thomas creating the blown coverage. Here it is on another angle




It's VERY bang bang and there may only be a split second of a window where Taylor may have been able to get the ball off... but you wonder....
 
Yeah, I don't blame Heinicke there. He is running for his life inside a phone booth by the time it's obvious that Jahan is going to break free.

It was a tough situation, but the truth is, Heinicke was not looking downfield as Dotson broke wide open. Also quite possible, he could not see shit being, you know, 5' 8" and all.

Mclaurin being flagged when Robinson got in was unreal. He checked with the ref and got no answer.

Daniel Jones threw for less yards and a lower completion percentage than any game he’s had against Washington except one other in 2020. That game also saw a Kyle Allen fumble returned for an TD. Also in that game, Jones had 74 rush yards on 7 carries. Which is typically what he does against Washington. Last night, it was just 10 for 35. The defense did what it had to do to win last night.

I believe in the after game interview Terry says the ref told him he was good.. it’s all over tik Tok🤷🏼‍♂️
