Anybody hear if JD is playing?

I don't know why this thread was taken down and put back up. If it was because it felt like I was derailing it with our Forbes conversation then let me know and I will remove it.

I said last night that he looks like a much better athlete than anyone in our secondary, maybe besides Amos, now plays way bigger than his size, and is strong at the point of the catch. Last night was one of the best performances I've seen from a corner in a long time.

TB has one of the best receiving cores in the league but none of them could get any separation and almost every play looked like the play above where he was just sticking to them batting the ball himself with force while throwing them to the ground hard. Also had a great blitz. He also stopped a lot of these plays on 3rd and 4th down. Collinsworth said that he definitely looks like a first round pick right now

These games coming down the stretch remind me of 2023 under Ron.

It was basically about the draft pick coming up after the season and the hope that the 30% turnover in personnel would at least bring in younger, faster and more aggressive football players regardless of immediate wins and losses.

In that regard I am still waiting for the arrival of more than a sprinkle of young athletic and aggressive roster players 🤬

Coming off 4-13 I was really expecting a roster of 22-23-24 year old players with some diamonds in the rough to kick off the new regime in 2024.

The Bills built a team around Josh Allen.

It took a couple of years to turn around 20 plus years of losing.

I didn’t think we were going to sign a chock full of 30 year old players except with the idea of filling in for that initial season.

Instead we became the Over the Hill Gang II by bringing all the older players back and then adding more.

Even with the patchwork veterans over-weighting the average age of the roster, we were still #1 in the NFL in draft pick minutes played for the first 20 games of AP’s career here (haven’t seen an update since, that was what I saw at the time). #1. The young players we do have not being good enough (or being used correctly?) is a bigger problem than the vets we rostered who failed us. We have tons of young guys playing the last two seasons, they just aren’t turning out to be great (or even good) players at this point in their careers, which is a very scary problem to confront.

Ask Bills fans what they think of the roster and coaching job around Josh Allen btw. It’s not just this week, I have a vocal Bills fan in one of my dynasty leagues who spends every week crying about how poorly built their defense and WR corps is, how they’re wasting Josh Allen, how they need to blow up the coaching staff and rebuild it around Allen again while he’s still in his prime.

Lots of places have greener grass than here, for now, sure. But it’s not all the places you think and not always for the reasons that seem obvious when you’re down on your face like we are right now. The margins are thin in this league and one impactful offseason can change it all, when you have a QB. For good or ill.

BTW, Jayden is practicing but is not cleared for contract yet which is why he is not likely to play Sunday

So explain to me how we are supposed to misinterpret this one. The commentary on the tweet seemed like some heavy reading into whatever was being posted by Jayden. I’m not on any social media outside of this board, so I feel like I’m missing something.

There's daylight at the end of the barrel of a gun?

It's crazy how good that kickers have it. Gay goes straight to another squad, living in Cali, and kicking for a most likely playoff team in SF. I see that he made 2 FGs and 2ep, including a 47 yarder

Idk, other than the very best they have to drag their families around the country for low (NFL low) guarantees and frequently lose their job after singular high leverage errors that also has death threats going their way lol. Idk if I’d say they have it great, but they do mostly get to stay healthy and avoid CTE (which is admittedly pretty great), make really good regular person money for a few years without being very recognizable out in public, and can have long careers if they’re pretty good and they’re willing to start over a lot in their early years until they’re good. Requires a lot of mental fortitude, can lose your career in an instant if you lose focus under the pressure of the bright lights. Definite pros and cons

Broncos are 9-2. We are 6.5 point underdogs at home coming off a bye. Still no Jayden or McLaurin. Story of our season, every game looks unwinnable, sad.

Strikes me as being close to the mark. (Hindsight is a wonderful thing - I was happy until all the injuries, and then it's like "shoot, we mighta got this a bit wrong")

Did the brains trust get caught up by the crazy success & lose sight of the longer term building of the franchise? Don't know. You could always argue the injuries killed the plan, let alone any momentum.

I know it's NotForLong, but are we too reactionary so far - Forbes comes to mind - a little patience might have seen us developing a young asset.

Back on topic, I'm extremely eager for JD to play against the Broncos, especially with Terry's likely return. His current training session looked pretty slow motion however - won't be holding my breath....
