Wins and losses are not significant? This isn’t JV sports.
They’re significant when you’re a team playing for something.
This fanbase cracks me up. I remember “Horny for Zorny”
This is year 1 of a rebuild. Having a team that had nothing on tape because it’s a brand new coaching staff with a brand new crop of players is a huge advantage - add a rookie QB that throws with incredible accuracy and you get a start like this. But it was all destined to come back down to earth. Our defense is getting better but still not good. Our offense has second rate weapons for the most part.
Sorry, I never bought into the idea this team would do something in the playoffs much less compete for a Super Bowl just because they had a hot start. I read social media and listen to the news, radio, and podcasts - I get many fell for the same stuff we see all the time with total tear downs and rebuilds.
The team is in great shape and probably gonna be ahead of schedule because Jadien, Quinn, and Kingsberry are top notch.
But no, wins don’t really matter. They’re nice. And it certainly is easier to get buy in and grow your team when you’re winning and you can progress and work on things, than it is when you’re losing and going over the same crap every week cause you can’t get it right.
I’m a super competitive, I believe in going for it and all that jazz, but I’m also realistic and have watched pro sports for a long time and am aware that a quality rebuild has a pattern it follows and it’s not winning a superbowl or making the conference championship the first year.
The only time I recall that sort of thing ever happening is with the golden knights and they were an expansion team that got to pluck unprotected players across the league and did a really good job assembling a team that didn’t necessary have stars but had high quality guys all the way through their third line. Panthers and Jaguars did something similar - again, expansion teams with the same benefit.
That’s rare and requires that unique aspect of being an expansion team. It’s not what happens with a total tear down and rebuild. This year is about generating lots of positivity, creating the right culture, and hitting on our QB pick.
