Official Game Thread - Week 12 - Commanders vs. Dallas @NW - GIDDY UP!

Yeah, it’s a shame he’ll get a couple of interceptions against him this game. The first one was clearly on target and the receiver (I forget who it was) fumbled the catch straight into the arms of a waiting cowboy.

and that last one was in a Hail Mary which is a 50/50 shot.
Guess I should have used an LOL... I was joking

Should have definitely opened up the passing game earlier. But lord Seibert....that was awful. No wonder he was on the waiver wire when we signed him.
If you watch the replay of the final onside (end zone view was on Red Zone), he kicked it straight ahead of himself and purposefully avoided the guy that scored the TD??

And on the proper KR for a TD he showed he is the slowest player in the NFL

Wins and losses are not significant? This isn’t JV sports.

They’re significant when you’re a team playing for something.

This fanbase cracks me up. I remember “Horny for Zorny”

This is year 1 of a rebuild. Having a team that had nothing on tape because it’s a brand new coaching staff with a brand new crop of players is a huge advantage - add a rookie QB that throws with incredible accuracy and you get a start like this. But it was all destined to come back down to earth. Our defense is getting better but still not good. Our offense has second rate weapons for the most part.

Sorry, I never bought into the idea this team would do something in the playoffs much less compete for a Super Bowl just because they had a hot start. I read social media and listen to the news, radio, and podcasts - I get many fell for the same stuff we see all the time with total tear downs and rebuilds.

The team is in great shape and probably gonna be ahead of schedule because Jadien, Quinn, and Kingsberry are top notch.

But no, wins don’t really matter. They’re nice. And it certainly is easier to get buy in and grow your team when you’re winning and you can progress and work on things, than it is when you’re losing and going over the same crap every week cause you can’t get it right.

I’m a super competitive, I believe in going for it and all that jazz, but I’m also realistic and have watched pro sports for a long time and am aware that a quality rebuild has a pattern it follows and it’s not winning a superbowl or making the conference championship the first year.

The only time I recall that sort of thing ever happening is with the golden knights and they were an expansion team that got to pluck unprotected players across the league and did a really good job assembling a team that didn’t necessary have stars but had high quality guys all the way through their third line. Panthers and Jaguars did something similar - again, expansion teams with the same benefit.

That’s rare and requires that unique aspect of being an expansion team. It’s not what happens with a total tear down and rebuild. This year is about generating lots of positivity, creating the right culture, and hitting on our QB pick.

Anyways. That aside.
I’m curious how much I’ll hear this week about the last 4 minutes with the previous 56 being ignored.

Yeah, we got incredibly lucky McClaurin made that TD. And I can’t believe the kick off return we gave up. And yeah the extra points hurt.

But the defense played well enough against a garbage team with a backup QB to win.
And our offense was putrid and cost us the game.

I have a hard time believing Daniels is struggling with defenses suddenly. That doesn’t track. Neither does the idea Kingsberry has lost his mojo, or he’s been figured out.

The drops were a problem and that’s because we haven’t had time to invest in quality receivers. You can only do so much in an offense.

The offensive line suddenly doesn’t look so good. Neither does Daniels. I think the two go hand in hand. And defenses are going to continue to come after him until he beats them with his arm like he was the first few weeks.

I still don’t think he’s 100%. If you’ve had rib injuries you know they’re nagging injuries. Twist the wrong way, sleep the wrong way, pick something up too fast - it’s a nagging injuries and lingers for a long time. Given throwing something at a high level is big on core muscles and puts a lot of torque on your lower and mid sections, it makes total sense. It’s just frustrating they keep trotting him out there cause I don’t see how it’s doing anyone any good. I’d prefer they roll with mariotta until Jayden is ready. I find it hard to believe he doesn’t have the same accuracy issues in practice. He didn’t have these in college or pre-injury.

I’ll stop ranting own sorry 😆

What is the benefit of putting JD on an island and treating as if he didn't have broken ribs? Some of the typical plays QB makes involve eating hits just after releasing the ball(think Jay Cutler in Chicago), and it's clear that JD is unable to handle that at the moment due to injury and not aggravating that injury.

One, our D is not championship caliber. Two, even without injuries, rookies will hit the wall when they have to read defenses and deal with opponents that expect their moves. Rookies aren't winning the Super Bowl in the first year. They just don't have the knowledge and experience yet.

It's also not worth tossing Mariota out there at the expense of Daniels' education, since Mariota has his own ceiling, and it's not Super Bowl.

Only fans think coaches want to win every game at all costs, with no regard to the future. But the coaches and owners do take into account the future beyond just this game or this season.

It's not necessarily relevant, but just to correct it as I see people describing it that way, Daniels does not have and didn't have broken ribs. He reportedly had an intercostal injury where the cartilage between the ribs was torn or damaged.

I'm no doctor but the description of such injury doesn't sound like it's something that heals within a few weeks. This seems like a injury that hangs around for a while. Not using this as an excuse, but I'm sure he's still feeling it.

I had this exact injury many years ago, due to a fall off my mountain bike. This happened about a week before a big golf tournament. I went to the tournament, played two practice rounds, sort of, and dropped out. Was still quite painful even a week and a half to two weeks out. By week three the pain had subsided a good bit, and I was pain free in about a month.

Not a professional athlete, and this occurred almost 30 years ago. I’m sure JD has gotten the absolute best medical care and therapy, therefore I would guess that he is very close to, if not entirely, pain free now.

I don't see how it could've healed while continuing to play. I think it's still a major issue and will continue to be one until he gets to the offseason and can really take a break.

I had that injury many years ago.... dirt bike wreck. Took forever to heal, and I wasn't playing a contact sport.

So, Seibert to IR.

What’s the odds that he actually wasn’t right for the Dallas game at all?

Starting to feel that way.

The conspiracy side of my brain is thinking maybe he felt under threat for his job by how well Gonzales was doing and rushed himself back. If that’s the case then he could have cost us the game.

He just looked off.
