Official Game Thread - Week 1 - Giants @ Commanders

Washington averaged 7 yards per rush in this game. So before anyone anoints great defenses let’s look at who is playing their assignments and how much discipline coaches get out of the Giants d-men on the field week to week.

The Giants are a team with some young talent, I am not sure going with Wilson at 36 was the way to go in a still rebuilding season after 3-14.

I am still smiling over Daniel Jones performance in Indy after my relatives who are all Giants fans thought Wilson was much better.

Well, not today at least :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
 
Lions outside and lost both coordinator's. I don't think they're as good, but GB is playing really tight.

I expect the offense to be crisper, and get there quickly, but I don't know if I expect it by Thursday because Thursday Night Games are the devil's work.

Thursday night games are most definitely the devils work. I absolutely despise Thursday night games, especially when we're on the road. Packers looking legit so far, and I doubt we'll have all the kinks worked out on offense. Im already preparing myself to hear the know it all pundits declaring the sophomore slump. The one positive i guess to playing on Thursday will be the couple extra days of rest and prep for week 3

We did and they aren't the same team that they were last year.
Losing both coordinators can be tough to overcome.

I think they'll rebound but i dont think they'll come close to repeating what they did last year, at least in the regular season anyway.

Giants OL is not good when Thomas is out.
JD's timing was off, and Conerly struggled at RT - hopefully those issues will resolve themselves in a game or two.
The money spent on Kinlaw doesn't look so bad now. Lattimore appears healthy. Deebo playing like vintage Deebo.

Agree with this. I’d give Connerly a bit of a break being as he’s a rook and the Giants supposedly have one of the toughest D Lines in the league. They were going to test him as a potential weakness on our revamped line. This was always going to be a trial by fire for him, I don’t think he did too bad and should just get better from here..

This is fair. On the other hand, last year, we couldn't stop anybody. So getting a defensive win feels good.

The offense needs to catch up. Not surprised that the passing game was a bit out of sync. Terry and Noah never practiced until the last two weeks.
 
Jayden will be sharper than that for sure but I also think the offensive misfires are being a little overblown. It was all little stuff. Easy to understand why and easy to fix just by playing more football.

No it’s wasn’t a sparkling performance but they did a LOT of good stuff. Deebo is going to be a major force in this offense and Bill looks like he adds juice we haven’t seen in quite some time. And the oline stood solid against a very talented front. Sure, Jayden had some misfires, but he also had a boatload of clutch throws over the middle in the 10-20 yard range.

The offense is going to be a serious problem for the league when it get humming. They’re basically unstoppable unless they’re behind the sticks and even when they are, it’s still a good chance of converting. They did that a bunch today.

It’s easy stuff to clean up. I’m thrilled.
 
What we have seen the past two seasons is that when all the marbles are on the table Jared Goff blinks.

I think both Jayden Daniels and Jordan Love have the overall talent and poise to be better than Goff and so I don’t rate the Lions as highly as some others may.

I think they are a playoff team but a 9-10 wins not 14 or 15 this year.

Packers better hope Parsons stays healthy - the front office and staff bet their jobs on him.

The Giants should have kept Jones on the roster just for WAS games. He only played about 3 good games a year as a Giant, but 2 of those were always against WAS.

Yes. I was rather critical of Lattimore last year, but he looked pretty good today.
