Official Game Thread - Playoffs Week 2 - Commanders @ Lions

Rams have been absolutely horrific on 3rd and short. It will cost them the game if they can't improve it or if they don't start using all four downs.
I wonder what the success rate is of RBs up the gut on 3rd and 1.

And then the success rate against a stout front.

That 2nd quarter must have been demoralizing on those now fully deflated Lion fans. Things didn't get much better after that.

Will Ferrell Lol GIF
and now losing both Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn is going to hurt them even more. BTW, I think Ben Johnson is going to flame out big time.

Agree wholeheartedly about Johnson. I loved seeing him on the sideline looking like "Data" from Star Trek with an vacant expression on his face while Washington's lunchpail defense blew up his shiny trick plays time and again. He thought he was the smartest guy in the stadium and he got exposed on the biggest possible stage.

Wednesday I hit my group chat and also pinged my die hard lions fan neighbor and brother to see if they wanted to go to the game. I had no expectations what so ever except to have a cool road trip game, with the best feel good vibes in my life for my favorite team. Everyone said no, got stuff going on/not doing that.

Friday night my buddy (that went to every game for several seasons with my wife and me) pinged me and said he cleared his schedule. 30 minutes later we had everything booked

Saturday morning
6:30 am im packing and after much discussion and indecision my wife tells me to take the #36 Taylor jersey.

8am he shows up at my house. We hop it in the truck and go.

3:30 pm We get to our hotel in a town and hour south of Detroit. We check in and drop stuff off and relax. Laid out the gear. My jersey I bought his rookie year and had no money so I could only afford the 99$ cheap ones. I brought one of those stupid chains my son got but ultimately left it in the truck

Power Nap. Energy drinks. On the road to Detroit. We park and start walking to the staking about 6. We are the only skins fans we see. It eventually become a conversation when we arrive at security outside the stadium.

0 skins fans anywhere.

We get inside and start seeing some skins fans. We have almost 2 hours before kickoff so we just check the stadium out, walking the whole thing. Very cool stadium. And some is nice… we grab beer and food and head to our seats.

That’s when we meet Terry McClaurins father and his uncle. Very cool guys. They were stoked and super excited. They sat in the same section as us - 130, visitors side 20 yard line. The seats were fantastic.

After about 20 minutes it’s time to take our seats.

Detroit put on a hell of a show. I hope Harris et al were taking notes. The people in Detroit couldn’t be nicer. Think exact opposite of Philly. I will go to a game at Ford Field any time. I can’t say enough nice things about them.

Except there was a group of 8 year old girls that followed me and my buddy around booing us, while their parents filmed it. 😂

The game starts and it’s:
ok good game; good.
Oh shit we have the lead
Oh shit we look really good and everything’s going our way.

At halftime the lions fans were still optimistic. And I don’t blame them. It wasn’t a comfortable lead by any means.

But as the third quarter ended and the fourth started, the mood changed. People started getting angry. Some skins fans were being obnoxious about the situation and some verbal sparing began. My buddy and I were gracious guests and had no problems - in fact I hoped a few seats to grab a skins fan and talk him out of getting kicked out for going after some dumb 19 year olds.

Anyways - at some point it became clear that we were likely to win - and it seemed like at that point our team kicked It up into another gear and clutch play after clutch play kept happening.

At 7:30 left in the 4th the fans began leaving in droves. My buddy and I were like … wtf… this game is far from over. Couldn’t believe they were leaving already. But every time we made a big play, or the lions made a big mistake, another large group would exit.

We talked to everyone around us - they all said good game/good luck/nice to meet you on their way out.

As the game winds down we move towards the front. We sing with our fellow fans, cheer for players as they come by. Wildly cheer for Adam Peters as he walks by. Then get ready to leave - see Mr McClaurin and go talk to him again. Congratulate him on his son’s performance - reiterate how beloved he is by all of us. Talk about the next week then say good night.

We spent the next hour or so navigating the streets to, and in, the truck to get to the highway. We get to the room at 1:30 am.

Side note - fuck you Ohio for refusing to sell me alcohol after 1 am. I couldn’t drink all game and I got to the store at 1:18 😐

Crash around 2-2:30 after geeking out to post game, sportscenter, stats, etc.

Get up at 7 - shower and gtfo if there.

It snowed so much it added 1:45 to our trip time. My truck grill got so full I had to clear it out because it was clogged up.

Finally got home around 4:45. Because of the snow about 19 hours of driving in a 33 hour span. Best game I ever went to. Memory I’ll never forget. Had a fucking blast.

Hell of a win. Life’s been super busy haven’t been able to keep up with what’s going on around here, but wanted to share the trip :)

The snow you’re seeing in the eagles game - yeah we drive through that from Pittsburgh all the way home 😂

Looks like this other game is about over.

Wife wants to go to Philly. Just pinged the group.

Not quite over yet.

Eagles decided not to play defense and just gave up a quick TD. Now Eagles have to get a couple first downs.

Rams had all the momentum after the safety and failed to capitalize on it. So thankful that DC finally has a team with both the mindset and the ability to grasp every opportunity and make opponents pay for every mistake.

Rams are going to have a legitimate chance…..

It always was going to be the Eagles. It always HAD to be the Eagles. A shared destiny of two teams headed in different directions.

Fuck it I’ll go if these prices come down. This is how it worked this time last week, we snagged awesome seats Friday night for 415

So a few points this thread is much better than chat. I do like chat but too many folks lack the ability to decipher words in chat

Yesterday i was told so your a dr now when I said the lions DB looked like he broke his arm. Turns out I was right
Yesterday I was told to shut up when I said we would win 3 out of 10 times we play detroit
Yesterday I was told I have a bad attitude when I made comments about the defense giving up 11 yards a rush.
So I left chat and came to this thread.

I remember the 1972 superbowl - was young but my parents had a party for the game.
I really dont get it yes some times i get pissed and say emotional things in chat but the comments yesterday were observations.

I think ill be staying away from chat and posting her from now on. Yesterday almost made me not come back to the site.
