Yeah, imagine if this team had the consensus first round picks from the last 3 years. But we are winning without them, even though all of Riveras firsts have all been cut. It's really amazing.

I was also glad to see Montgomery. Was even happier to see Goff come back in for Bridgewater.
 
I don’t understand why teams don’t have players run off the field when it’s a spike situation. If they are going to run a play, they can’t do that as it would be a sub and the defense would get a chance to match. But if you are just going to spike it to stop the clock, then why not have the guy way down field run off the sideline and just spike it with 9 or 10 lined up. It would certainly prevent a guy like Williams who was loafing from costing you valuable seconds.

was wondering the same. deep wrs should just run out of bounds in the endzone and get subbed near the los.

Or is there a rule that they have to get back to los to get subbed?

I listen to Dan Campbell after this game and it makes me feel sad for those Lions fans.

I have no idea why but he's just a real dude. He takes accountability for all of it.

It's the complete opposite of us beating the Ditka Bears or the Parcels Giants. Those coaches were just arrogant assholes.

But can you imagine that we just did what the 49ers had a hard time doing last year and we made it look almost easy. 49ers were down 20 at the half vs the Lions and came back. We dominated the Lions the entire game. It's really amazing.

We dominated the Lions the entire game. That was impressive, especially after failing on the first 4th down attempt and going down in the beginning of the game.

The only rule about subbing is the defense has to be given time to match. So a smart coach would send in defenders to waste time. So subbing wouldn’t save time and would cost more time. But spiking the ball with 10 players in the game is perfectly legal.

At first, I was going to make this post comparing our failed trick play vs. the Lion's failed trick play and saying ours was the least worst. But thinking on it more, ours was brilliant. Our RB sacking Mariota on 4th down was about intimidation. "We're so good, we'll sack our own QB and still beat you." It stunned them. It demoralized them. How can they beat us when we're willing to beat ourselves?

I think you have it wrong. This isn’t just 3D chess they are playing, it’s 4D.

They purposely had Robinson sack Mariota so next week’s opponent has no idea what’s going to happen. They put everything on film all at once:

1. Mariota could sneak it, and BRob could tush-push him.

2. He could hand it to the RB

3. He could toss it back to Daniels

Amazingly, now all of it is on film with one play!

So next week when we get into that formation, the defense is just going to run into itself because they have no idea what we are going to do.

It’s all a planned setup.

yeah. seems like something coaches wouldve figured out so theres got to be more to it
