Official Game Day Thread: Redskins @ Vikings

Mock me all you want, but I know I'm right.
Calm down Sheldon.

I would consider keeping Haslett because I think his unit is lacking in talent and he's making them play above their level. (Just my opinion on Haslett, I know there's a whole bunch of people that disagree with me on that)
Not just people, his record speaks for itself. He's been a failure everywhere he's ever been. All of those teams were top 10 in D before he got there (top 5 a lot of times), and after he left. While he was there? Bottom 5 in the league. It's no coincidence, he's a worthless coach.

Anyway, it's bedtime. Need some rest if I'm going to hang myself.

HOW AM I EXPECTED TO SLEEP WHEN MY BLOOD IS BOILING

Feeling the same way. I am going to make some popcorn and put a heavy dose of olive oil on it. I'll be up for a few hours. Might as well make the most of it.

Sorry lanky, i'm just so pissed right now.

so, so pissed.

I figured that we all learned not to get so worked up about the game after Norv, Spurrier, and Zorn, hell even 2 of Gibbs 4 seasons were garbage.

Now don't take this wrong. I'm pissed too. First and goal and they don't hand the ball off to Morris? Yeah I'm not happy.

But... I guess in my "older" age.. I've grown somewhat more pragmatic. I see sparks of talent on this team. I am seeing sparks of the old RGIII. We definitely saw sparks of Morris tonight. And Reed... who would have thought 2 years in a row we'd have a rookie make such an impact.

But I have way too much drama in my life that affects my day-to-day life to let the drama on the field get me down for more than an evening ... or perhaps a little longer. I'll always root for the Redskins, pray for the best, and realize that I really have no control over what the players do on the field and then go back to my drama-filled life (of which I don't have control over either but I'm in the thick of it anyway). I guess that is why I'm hopeful til the very end. Call me the eternal optimist. Call me idealistic. Call me whatever. But you can ALWAYS call me a Redskins fan. That will never change (and I'm not implying any of you aren't fans). I see what we can and can't do. I personally never expected Griff to come back from a second reconstruction and be his old self this year as I said in an earlier post, but I do see sparks of his confidence coming back. Can we go on another 7-win streak? Doubtful. But is it possible? Anything is POSSIBLE. That's why they play the game. Or else we'd have robots playing the game ala the Jetsons. :)

I'm on the fence regarding coaching. Mike.. I see staying. Kyle... well my jury verdict is out on him. We need to do something now that the cap penalty will be lifted to protect Griffin if he is going to become more of a pocket passer and we need to strengthen the secondary.

Anyway... Gotta get back to work. Would hate to lose my job when I use the Redskins as an escape from my hum-drum life.

I went to a Kung Fu class instead of watching the game. Best decision I've made in a long while it seems.

...
There's talk already of Kyle getting away from the run after they took a 27-14 lead but that’s not accurate per usual.* There were 19 offensive plays between the time they took a 27-14 lead and first and 10 with no timeouts left with under 2 minutes to go in the game.* Those 19 plays included 11 runs and 8 passes.

For those that want Morris on every play with a one-score lead, why?* They built a 27-14 lead with balance, there was no reason to get away from that balance up 27-21 when they got the ball back.

Reed Doughty made the fake punt call based on defensive alignment. Paul was the only one on the team that didn't see it.

Hey!, The sun came up. Who knew?

Hoping for the Brokeback Boys, and the Fecals to lose this weekend. We'll be right where we were. Within easy striking distance.

We can still win our division.

Yeah. I could care less about the division. Winning the division and going out first round pathetically doesn't qualify as a good season to me. :\

But yes, the sun came up.

Yeah. Wouldn't have mattered anyway because of the penalty.

I didn't mind the call.

Just like every other call, if it works, it's GREAT!
If it doesn't, fire the (insert target here)!!!

Hindsight is never wrong, and carries zero risk.
This is a general statement, not directed at you, t.

If we go on to win the division, and hit the playoffs, healthy, we will not go out in the 1st round.

Bet you a sandwich, and a beer.

Oh i liked the fake punt call. If Paul pays attention and no penalty it works.

I'll take the bet. More because I'd love to have lunch and a beer with you than anything else.

Ponder had the 5th best day in Viking history completion wise.

Lanky, I was apoplectic after the Denver game at Kyle because I thought he should have run the ball more. I think this game last night was different. There were a few individual plays (near the goalline especially) where I probably would have run Morris once or twice more, but overall, I actually thought Kyle called a nice game. I thought we did enough to keep their secondary backed off the LOS to keep them honest with some of his calls. The execution just wasn't there in the second half. Not sure if it is a lack of killer instinct or what, but had our offense executed just a hair better in the 3rdQ, that is a different ballgame.

Having said all that, imo, this loss rests on the D. Ponder is not a good QB, but we made him look well above-average. What was distressing to me was that we got virtually no pressure on him all night. Not sure if that was because of good pass pro, or a lack of blitzing or what, but the more you knock Ponder around, the more likely he is to turn it over. We did a really nice job bottling up AD, but give credit to their OC, he called a nice gameplan too by not over-relying on Petersen.

This one hurts. A lot.
