While I'm as unhappy as everybody else Haz is still on the staff, it makes perfect sense for this season. With a bucket load on his plate already, it lets Gruden get his feet under him as a first time head coach implementing his new offensive system, and coaching our young QB. Yes, as head coach, he's responsible for the entire team, but with the same coach and system on D, and some money to upgrade a bit, it frees him up to get the O rolling as it had been in 2012. Remember, our D wasn't all world in 12, but we were able to mask that with an O that could sustain drives, and score lots of points.

He'll have a year under his belt for 15, and if the D sucks this year, it's easier to make the move next off season.

UMM Just so that we are all on the same page here, the receover we signed will be a number 3 at best and the Olineman we just paid 17 million for, has been graded out to where his ceiling is considered average at best, that means best case scenario, he will be an average guard lmao

now in responce, I have been a redskins fan for over 30 years, in that time the empirical evidence has been that we will most likely suck, we have sucked when we won the offseason trophy in free agency and we sucked when we didnt sign anyone. The reason I am irritated with the start of free agency this year actually doesnt have much to do with who we signed, I knew we would likely sign a lot of garbage, because we would be gunshy after so many years of overspending.

what I am irked about is that we arent raiding other teams practice rosters, we arent scouring the free agency list for guys who gruden thinks will fit his scheme either, if we were we would have signed some mid tier guys who would be able to contribute right away.

You think im doom and gloom for being pessimistic and I think you are stupid for drinking the koolaid (sorry I know that sounds harsh).

The truth is that all of us should be in SHOW ME mode, nobody should be cutting this team any damn slack.any of you who knew me at extremeskins where I was one of the very first members, might remember that I used to be the biggest pollyanna in the world, but the constant dissappointments when looking through burgundy glasses changed my view. do I love this team? hell yeah, but will I ignore idiocy or give them the benefit of the doubt anymore? nope.

I look at big picture stuff when I review these things, and Gruden crapped the bed right off the hop by retaining Haslett, to me its a classic " keep my buddy around as the scapegoat" move, it has no goddamn upside, he has proven that with this cast, he isnt capable of fielding a competitive defence, so there is no reason other than nepotism or a ready made scapegoat to keep him, and since I dont respect either of those reasons I want someone new here to at least pretend like they want to field a decent unit.

I don't like that other teams are signing CFL guys, signing other teams PR guys and we sit on our damn hands like we are super bowl champs. I dont like that we had a shot to sign a guy who would have been ridiculous cheap to even get, and we watched someone else do it.


I would have preferred that we built a team the smart way, but stockpiling picks, building your lines and depth, and then making a big deal to get a franchise qb to be the final piece, instead we traded our future, then didnt do squat to protect that investment and now it might have been wasted so yet another wasted decade of being a football fan for the redskins.

If we can actually patch together a halfass line, we might at least have a punchers chance, Rg3 and alfred give us that much, but we wont be consistent without a huge infusion of talent on the Oline and on the defence.

and to anyone who thinks we are better off for having has shamahan here, I hope I never have to rely on your for anything business related lol

That's all well and good, but your first post isn't written like that. It's written quite differently, actually. Your first post was 'sky is falling' and you wrote it 8 1/2 hours into free agency.

We haven't even drafted yet.

And you blame Gruden for things that aren't even his responsibility.

I think most of us are in wait and see/show me mode. Probably almost everyone. Very few people here seem to be willing to give the organization the benefit of the doubt anymore, or to trust in anything and everything they're doing anymore.

We're just not in rush to judgement mode.

Let the top level guys get their contracts, so you've got an idea what the 'lower' players are going to warrant... Free agency didn't end at midnight Wed night... we can still sign guys, and we still have cap room to do it. Things don't need to happen day 1. We want to build a team over time with consistency? Then we need to get the guys we want for the prices we can afford.

You might also need to factor in fan response.

If Allen came out and behaved like Vinny Cerrato, or even gave the apperience of that, there may have been a storming of the gates at Redskins Park.

They might be taking it a little slower than they want just to avoid starting the new Regime off on a bad foot with the public.

Yes, it sucks to think that the fan base's opinions might impact decision making but when you factor in the last 15 years it seems plausible to me.

I still trust in Allen. I'm convinced this team is not nearly as bad off as many others seem to think it is. And despite my constant nit picking and ridiculous anger over petty items based on rumor, I'm generally happy with what has happened since the ousting of Shanahan The Cuffian.
